Summative Assessment:

Content: Math

Learning Objective: Using a numberline, students will add and subtract within 20 by, Hopping
on the actual number line and writing the answer.

Description: The final test for the students will be to add and subtract within 20 while showing
their work on the number lines provided in each question. The number lines will look like the
one pictured below and the students will “hop” from number to number; they will move right if it
is addition and left if it is subtraction. They will circle the number that they end up on and write
that number on the line below as their answer.

Rationale: This is a smaller version of what they were doing in class, instead of them being the
ones to literally hop from number to number it will be their pencil. This is connected to the
previous lesson and will encompass further learning as well, because this goes up to 20. It also
fits in with the learning standard for fourth grade that I have selected and will expand upon it.
This assessment was built around the learning objective and mirrors it in what it aims to
accomplish.

Scoring Guide: The scoring guide for this assessment will be a number line from one to twenty.
One point will be given for each question that was answered correctly. One additional point will
be given for each question in which you correctly showed your work. The differentiated scoring
guide will be a number line from one to ten in which one point will be given for each question
answered correctly.

Differentiation: The scoring guide will be differentiated as specified above. Additionally the test
will be given with preferential seating for students who need it. For my two students I will allow
extra time as well as provide elaboration on questions that go further than the actual information
provided in the question. Depending on how the students do in further lessons I may give them a
different test. I will also be changing the lighting in the room to make it a little darker to
accommodate eye strain and headaches.
