Samgyetang (Ginseng Chicken Soup)

This recipe for samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) is
prepared with ginseng grown in Geumsan, Korea's
No. 1 ginseng-growing area and chicken raised in
Yeonsan, and differs from the regular samgyetang
recipe. Considered a special health food, samgyetang
is especially good for children and the elderly because
it has a mild and clean taste and is easy to digest.

Dolsotbap (Hot Pot Rice)

It is popular particularly among the older generation
because it tastes just like rice cooked in an
oldfashioned iron pot. The restaurant serves side
dishes made with fresh vegetables that are grown in
farms in the vicinity of Daejeon. Side dishes prepared
with wild greens freshly picked on nearby mountains
are full of natural flavors and taste delicious.

Daecheongho Maeuntang (Spicy Freshwater Fish Stew)

Mandarin fishes caught in the Geumgang River used
to be a regional specialty and were presented as
such to the kings of the Joseon Dynasty. Sintanjin
has long been known for dishes prepared with
freshwater fish as their main ingredient. After the
dam was built in 1981, spicy fish stew restaurants
began to be open and now the area is reputed to
serve the best spicy fish stews made with freshwater
fish caught in the pristine, pollution-free water of the
Geumgang River.
