Public transport
Public Transport in Daejeon offers "transfer discounts", travelers can get the discount
within 30 minutes after getting off from the last public transport (the service interval : more
than 16 minutes/the routes : within 60 minutes after the get-off) Note : the travelers should
use the travel card and scan their card on the card reader when they get off the bus or train.
(Discounts available up to 3 times; however, those who travel via the same route are not
able to get the transfer discount)
Subway
Subway line 1 is in operation in Daejeon. The circular travel tickets for single trip are also
available for travelers’ convenience. (1 section-within 10km, 2 section-above 10km)
[Fare] travel card : (1 section) 1,250 won, (2 section) 1,350 won
general ticket(circular ticket for single trip) : (1 section) 1,400 won, (2 section) 1,500 won
Taxi
General taxis is available in Daejeon. For international travelers, interpretation service for
many languages is also available in cooperation with BBB Korea, please call 1588-5644 for
the interpretation service.

Dongchundang House, Treasure No. 209, was built in 1643 by Song Jun-gil (1606~1672) who
served as the Minister of the Military and Defense during the reign of King Hyojong of the
Joseon Dynasty. The lecture hall served as a venue where scholars and writers exchanged
their ideas and shared their academic interests.

Songaedang House is a small, separate house within a larger house that was built by Kim

It was built by Gwon I-jin (pen-name: Yuhoedang, 1668~1734) in the latter part of the Joseon
Dynasty as a personal residence. He read and taught others here, and held memorial
services for his parents, who were buried on the mountain behind the building.

11 Munchungsa Shrine
This shrine was built to enshrine the mortuary tablets and portraits of the Confucian scholars
Song Byung-sun (1836-1905) and Song Byung-soon (1839-1912), who resisted the Japanese
occupation of Korea and were patriotic martyrs. Originally, it was set up in Yeongdong,
Chungbuk, but later it was relocated in 1966 to its present place, where they were born and
martyred, as part of a project for commemorating the 60th anniversary of their martyrdom.

12 Bongsoru Pavilion
It is a lecture hall where Nam Bun-bung (1607~1674) taught his students. Nam served as a
judge of the Jangyewon (a court of law that ruled on cases involving publicly and privately-
owned servants). Nam followed the teachings of Jo Gwang-jo. The building was originally
named Bongsojae, meaning "a nest for birds," as it was intended to serve as an educational
institute for young scholars.

The Daejeon Dullesan-gil is a mountain trail
that connects the mountains surrounding the
city of Daejeon. A group of likeminded citizens
created the trail to enable more Daejeon citizens
to enjoy trekking more easily. The trail begins at
Bomunsan Mountain and covers 133.1 kilometers
in total, connecting Maninsan, Sikjangsan and
Gyejoksan Mountains. The trail consists of twelve
sections which are clearly marked with signs and
direction boards.

Daecheonho Obaengni-gil
Daecheongho Obaengni (500-ri) Road extends for about 200 kilometers, starting from
Daecheong Dam in Sintanjin, Daejeon, and connecting Daedeok-gu, Okcheon, Boeun and
Cheongju in Chungcheongbuk-do. Hikers will encounter many breathtaking scenic views
along the trail, including Daecheongho Lake, which has some interesting stories to tell.

Daecheong Hoban-gil
Daecheonghoban-gil is a series of eleven lakeside paths spanning a total of 57.5 kilometers
between the Daecheong Culture Exhibition Hall and the Chudong Eco Center. Connecting
Daedeok-gu and Dong-gu, Daecheonghoban-gil is an ideal walking trail for families and
couples whatever the season. There are also three bike paths.
