3ms and 5 ms. (5 - Marks)

Q2) The switch in the circuit shown in Figure below has been in position a for a long time. At the switch moves
instantaneously to position b. Find the numerical expression for i0 (t) when t ≥ 0. Find the numerical expression for v0 (t)
when t ≥ 0. (10 marks)

Q3: Drive the expression for i(t) for circuit given below. Determine neper and resonant
frequency. How this circuit behaves if R  ∞. (5 marks)

Hint:
 Step 1: Find initial conditions: v ¿ ¿ and d v ¿ ¿ ¿
(1.5 marks)
 Step 2: Find v ( ∞ ) or steady state response v ss ( t ) by calculatingi ( ∞ ).
(1.5 marks)
 Step 3: Turn off the independent sources and find the form of the transient response v t ( t )
by applying KCL or KVL. Once a second-order differential equation is obtained, determine
its characteristic roots. Depending on whether the response is over damped, critically
damped, or underdamped, obtain v t ( t ) with two unknown constants.
(5 marks)
 Step 4: The total response is now found as the sum of the transient response and steady-
state response
v ( t )=v ss ( t ) +v t ( t )
(1 marks)
 Step 5: Calculate the unknown constants of v ( t ) by using initial conditions in first step.
(1 mark)

Q5: If the voltage vo across the 2-Ω resistor in the circuit of below is: 90 cos (2 t ) V obtain is in
time domain. (10 marks)
