Starting definition: with the help of external force, the diesel engine obtains the

conditions of the first working cycle, that is, under the action of external force,
the intake, compression, injection, until the fuel combustion expansion and the
process of self-operation.
The starting mode of diesel engine can be divided into two types:
(1) The crankshaft is rotated by means of the external torque applied to the
crankshaft.Such as manual starting, motor starting and pneumatic or hydraulic motor
starting;
(2) By means of the external force applied to the piston to promote the piston
movement, such as compressed air to start.
Compressed air starting: the compressed air with a certain pressure (25~30bar) is
introduced into the cylinder during the expansion stroke according to the ignition
sequence of the diesel engine, and the piston is pushed to make the diesel engine
reach the starting speed to complete the self-ignition.

The main starting valve is installed in the starting air main. The main starting
valve consists of a large ball valve and a smaller ball valve (optional), a smaller
ball valve can be used to turn slowly before starting the engine, and the ball
valve is installed as a bypass of the larger valve.
Both valves are operated by pneumatic actuators.

If a smaller ball valve is installed, an adjustment screw will be installed to set
the slow rotation speed (the adjustment process is specifically indicated in the
title video).
In addition, a check valve (shown in the red circle above) is integrated to prevent
blowback when the pressure in the starting air line is too high.

The main starting valve is equipped with an interlocking device consisting of a
plate that blocks the actuator by means of a hand wheel.

The ball valve and its actuator form a unit together with the check valve and the
locking device.
