Welding Workshop

1.0) TITTLE: Gas Welding Report

2.0) INTRODUCTION

Gas welding is a process that joins or slices metal by using the heat generated by the
combustion of a fuel gas, such as acetylene. Gas welding is one of the most significant
types of heat-based welding and is still an option for many industries. The flame that
acetylene produces can reach temperatures of up to 3200 °C. Fuel gas, such as acetylene,
must combine with oxygen to guarantee the flame is in a fully burning state in order to
produce a focused flame at a high temperature. The materials near a weld will melt when
they come into touch with this flame.
SCORE (CLO1)

3.0) OBJECTIVE

1) To learn about proper gas welding technique.

2) To create project weld plate according to project sheet.

3) To explore more about gas welding.

4) To get workshop experience with using gas welding equipment

5.0) SAFETY PRECAUTION

1) Make sure to inspect the regulator and the gauge reading is accurate with
correct amount gas pressure needed.

2) Wear personal protective equipment such as welding glove and safety goggles
before proceed to start welding.

3) Make sure the workspace is clear from any foreign object debris and clean.

4) Inspect every equipment condition before proceed to start welding.

5) Use flint striker carefully to avoid hand burns.

5) Wear apron to avoid any burns incident happen.

6.0) WORKING PROCEDURE

PROCEDURES DIAGRAM

To ensure the gauge reading is accurate

with the necessary amount of gas, adjust
the regulator.

Before starting full welding with brass

flux-coated filler rod, prepare the welding
plate. The leaping method will be used to
connect two plates.

Ensure that the two plates are joined

straight and properly.

To accomplish a T- join between two

plates, the project will require welding
plates.

Use a brass flux-coated filler rod to tac -

weld each side before moving on to the
entire weld.
Welding Workshop

PROCEDURES DIAGRAM

A 90-degree angle must be achieved in the

T section and the weld plates must be
completely aligned.

To prevent a gas leak in the workshop, tidy

up your workspace and switch the
acetylene and oxygen regulators to an off
position.

7.0) DISCUSSION

I get the opportunity to use the gas welding equipment and create various sorts of
welding joints by signing up for this gas welding session. I have to weld two unique
joints using the jumping and T joint techniques this semester, which demands all of
my focus to ensure the joints are well fastened and the metal project section is not
visibly damaged.
SCORE (CLO1)

8.0) CONCLUSION

In conclusion, for the best welding quality, gas welding needed the use of the
correct procedure. Additionally, employing the gas welding option requires extra
caution because it involves burning fuel that could ignite or explode in the
workshop. Industries frequently opt for gas welding because it can generate a
variety of welding types that meet the required standards and only requires average
competence.
