Anything that becomes a means of collecting information for your study is called ‘research
tool’ or a ‘research instrument’
- Construction of a research tool is the first step in carrying out a study
- Planning to collect data (primary data) or use existing data (secondary data)

- Selection of relatively small number of units which provides a fairly true reflection of the
sampling population with a sufficiently high degree of probability

research supervisor and others, about the research study
