Question 9. (5 marks) An open box is made from a square piece of cardboard whose sides are 40 cm
long. Equal sized squares are cut from the four corners of the cardboard. The open box is then formed
by folding up the four sides. Determine the side length of the square to be cut in order to maximize the
volume of the box.
Question 10. (5 marks) Red and black baloons are being inflated for a special Montreal event in May. The
baloons are perfectly spherical. If the volume increases at a constant rate of 2.00 m3 /min at what rate is
the radius increasing when the radius is 0.2 m.
