WHAT IS A ROBOT?
A robot is a programmable machine that can complete a
task, while the term robotics describes the field of study
focused on developing robots and automation. Each
robot has a different level of autonomy. These levels
range from human-controlled bots that carry out tasks to
fully-autonomous bots that perform tasks without any
external influences.

Robotics is a branch of engineering that involves

developing, designing, manufacturing, and operating
robots. The objective of the robotics field is to
create intelligent machines that can assist humans
in a variety of ways.
History of Robotics
The term is derived from the Czech word 'Robota'.
At first Robots were introduced by poets and
writers in their poems and fictional stories.
Real Robots were only possible in the 1950s & 1960s
with the introduction of transistors & integrated
circuits.
The word 'Robotics ' used to describe this field of
study was coined by the Russian-born, American
scientist & science fiction writer Isaac Asimov in
the 1940s.
In 1942, he created three 'Laws of Robots'and he
later added 'zeroth law'.
George Devol invented the first digitally operated
Robot & he is the founder of the first commercial

What is RPA? Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is a software
technology that makes it easy to build, deploy, and
manage software robots that emulate humans' actions
interacting with digital systems and software. Just like
people, software robots can do things like understand
what’s on a screen, complete the right keystrokes,
navigate systems, identify and extract data, and
perform a wide range of defined actions. But software
robots can do it faster and more consistently than
people, without the need to get up and stretch or take
a coffee break.
RPA is the combination of several
technologies, brought together under one
toolkit for different automation purposes.
History of RPA (Robotic Though the term 'RPA' emerged in the early

Process Automation)
2000s, the initial development was started
after the 1990s.
'Machine Learning (ML)' is one of those
technologies that helped towards innovation,
which eventually lead to the creation of RPA.
In 1959, 'Arthur Samuel' developed Machine
Learning.
Machine Learning allowed computers to
perform several critical tasks, such as
translation and text summarization, etc.

Challenges of Challenge in automating end to end usecase

RPA
Lack of required support from business.

Lack of proper team structure.

Vaguely defined business continuity plans

Culture shock.
Incorrectly identified use -cases for automation.
Not enough support from RPA platform vendor.

Not allowing best practices.

Post implementation adoption.
