LEVEL 4

1. Copy and paste (or screenshot) your Level overview and scores. You can find

this information again in your Overview & Profile.

2. Reflect on the scenarios presented in the game. Was there anything you found

particularly difficult? Anything that surprised you?

I didn’t find anything in this level to be particularly difficult. There were some scenarios that I

found to warrant different responses than I had expected but then the explanations made those

mistakes make complete sense. One topic that I found to be somewhat complicated was talking

about reward systems. According to the game, “Reward Systems are an essential part of Project

Management. There is a myth, however, that emotive, or Psychic regards, are less important or

effective than tangible monetary based awards. Studies show this is not true. Psychic rewards,

like recognition, can in fact, be more motivating than financial ones” (EI Games, 2023). I didn’t

agree with this at first. I find that words don’t always mean much if the employee doesn’t feel

any financial reward. I do also agree that showing appreciation outside of financial gain can be

motivational for all employees.

3. Explain how something you learned in the game connects to something you

learned from the text.

“In some cases, the ethical decision is what benefits most people in a circumstance, while other

instances require you to apply a higher order judgment of what is right and just. In the case of

potential financial wrongdoing, a higher order ethical approach is required” (EI Games, 2023).

Making ethical decisions is important to prioritizing the relationship with stakeholders as well as

the overall team. Our textbook refers to relationships with stakeholders being at utmost priority

(Venkataraman, R. & Pinto, 2011). This can’t happen effectively without having ethical business

values.

4. How could you use the concepts discussed in this simulation in your job today?

Give an example of a situation you've been in where you could use a concept

from the simulation.

The most important concept I learned from this level was delegation and being a decision maker

as a project manager. The game suggests that “while it is important to delegate to your people,

you as Project Manager, are the ultimate decision maker. Effective decision making is one where

you are required to make a judgment at a specific point in time, with all the available information

you have at your disposal” (EI Games, 2023). In my future project management endeavors, I

want to delegate appropriately and take all my team’s opinions into consideration. A manager

learning from their team is very important. I also know that I must make the final decisions as

the manager of the project. It can be difficult to juggle.
