1. Introduction
ENTRAN appreciates your preference for purchasing the HGI7000 – Test
equipment for dielectric stiffness, ground strength and leakage current tests. To get the
maximum performance of the equipment we request a careful reading of this manual,
keeping it in hand for future consultations.

ATTENTION
Read the manual before using the appliance.
During the endurable voltage test it is necessary to electrically isolate the
equipment under test, going forward called EST. If insulation is not done , i.e. poorly
done, high voltages can be induced in inappropriate places. Make sure that, at the time
of testing, the EST will not be in contact with conductive surfaces.
This manual does not replace the technical standard according to which the test
will be done. Before any operation with the HGI7000 the standard must be read and
understood. The correct test procedure is the responsibility of the operator of the
HGI7000, equipment whose function is only to assist you during testing. ENTRAN is
not responsible for any type of error made in the procedure of the tests carried out with
HGI7000.

Measurement Categories (Overvoltage Categories)

The test terminals are classified as CAT I and CAT II second to IEC 61010-1.
Operation security
The following recommendations should be taken into account to avoid
accidents.
Before using the HGI7000, the operator must fully understand the dielectric
stiffness test in accordance with the technical standard in question.
The HGI7000 is a test apparatus and should not be used in the continuous
operation of the equipment.
Thehigh voltage l terminal on the front panel of the HGI7000 can be energized
with voltage of up to 5500V AC (referenced to the ground of the mains), so all care is
required in handling the equipment while connected.
Do not open the cabinet cover. The internal circuit works with high voltage and
heats up, and can cause shocks and burns.
To prevent damage to the instrument, protect it from mechanical shockduring its
transport or handling. Make sure that the equipment does not suffer falls.
For your safety, when taking measurements, use only the high voltage probe
supplied with the equipment. Do not bend or pull the probe to avoid bad contact
problems.
The HGI7000 must be operated with its housing connected to the grounding of
the electrical installation. A three-pin power cord is provided that allows this
connection. This power cord should only be connected to an outlet that allows
connection with the grounding system. Serious accidents may occur if this connection is
not properly made.

The presence of such marking on the equipment indicates that the operator
must rely on the user manual to prevent accidents and property damage.
The presence of this marking on the equipment indicates that high voltages
are present.

4. Safety Warnings
The HGI7000 Equipment requires maximum attention from those operating it, as
its pernation involves voltages of up to 5500V CAand high-magnitude currents, up to
30A AC. Serious accidents may occur if the equipment is misused and these
instructions are not followed.

 The HGI7000 unit must be operated with its housing connected to the
grounding of the electrical installation. A three-pin power cord is
provided that allows this connection. Thispower cord should only be
connected to a tomada that allows connection with the grounding
system. Serious accidents may occur if this connection is not properly
made.
 Never touch the metal parts of the probes or the claws when any test is
in progress (blueLED access).
 Do not handle the EST when a test is in progress (blueLED access).
 In case of emergency, disconnect the HGI7000 by the POWER button
and then disconnect the power cord from the outlet. The leak current test
transformer must also be switched off.

5. Dielectric stiffness
The dielectric stiffness test, called theHYPOT test, checks the quality of
integrity insulations of the equipment insulation under test (EST).
The dielectric stiffness of a material corresponds to the stress at which it lets it
act as an insulator. It is considered broken when submitted to an electric field and this
causes the passage of an electric current whose intensity grows uncontrolled.
When dealing with the dielectric stiffness of an equipment, we are referring to
the dielectric rigidity of the dosolants with the safety function it contains. We may be
talking, for example, about the insulation between the energized parts and the
equipment cabinet, or the ground.
To perform this type of measurement, the HGI7000 applies a high magnitude
alternating voltage on the equipment under test for a defined period of time and checks
the current passage.

Page 9
HGI7000 Operator's Manual

6. Ground resistance
The ground resistancetest, also known as the HIAMP test, aswells the resistance
between the grounding terminal and the grounded points of the EST.
The grounding resistance of an equipment reflects how well the grounded parts
are connected to grounding. This resistance is measured in milliohms (mΩ), which is
the unit derived from the international system for electrical resistance.
Resistance measurement is always done between two points: the point where the
grounding of the equipment is connected to the grounding of the mains (the third pin of
the power plug, for example) and a conductive part grounded on the outside or inside of
the equipment.
To perform this type of measurement, the HGI7000 applies between the two test
stations a high magnitude alternating current (up to 30A) and at the same time measured
the electrical voltage resulting from this current. Knowing the values of current (I) and
voltage (V), the resistance (R) between the two points can be calculated using Ohm's
law (equation that relates voltage to current and resistance).

7. Leakage current
The leakage current resistance test assifies leakage currents that are generated by
est.
The leakage current in an electrical equipment is a non-functional current that
normally comes from improper insulation and ends up flowing into the safety ground
and enclosure of the equipment. If the leakage current flows through a part of the
equipment not grounded, or improperly grounded, it may pass through the body of a
person who eventually touches that equipment, if that constitutes an electric shock.
The HGI7000 is designed to perform the leakage current tests required by IEC
60601-1 3º Ed. - Medical electrical equipment - Part 1: General requirements for basic
safety and essential performance. In Brazil this standard is internalized by ABNT under
the name of NBR ABNT IEC IEC 60601-1 - Electromedical Equipment - Part 1 -
General prescriptions for safety.
Standard 60601-1 classifies the leakage current into four different types, each
described below.

7.1. Leakage current for earth

Current that, when crossing or circumventing the insulator circulates from the
part to be connected to the network to the grounding conductor for protection.

7.2. Leakage chains through cabinet

Current circulating through the cabinet or its parts, excluding parts applied,
accessible in normal use to the operator or patient, passing through an external
conductive connection, other than the grounding conductor for protection, and through
the ground or other integral part of the cabinet.

Page 11
HGI7000 Operator's Manual

7.3. Leakage current through patient

Current circulating from the applied part, through the patient, to the ground, or
passing from the patient to the ground, through an applied part of type f, and due to the
unwanted appearance, in the patient, of a tension coming from an external source.

7.4. Auxiliary current through the patient

Current that circulates through the patient, in normal use, between elements of
the applied part, and which is not intended to produce a physiological effect, for
example: polarization current of an amplifier or current used in plethysmography by
impedance measurement.

7.6. Importance ofs assays

The electricalsafety test s are of great use andboth in the design phase and in the
production of an electronicequipment. Its realization can help identify the following
defects:

- Inadequate isolation distances.

- Damaged documentants.
- Badly insulated wire and seams.
- Presence of liquids and contaminants.
- Improperly connected wire and cables.
- Poorly designed grounding connections.
- Grounding connections made improperly.
- Inappropriate cables and conductive materials.

Such tests shall be carried out in the context of type tests and routine tests. The
two concepts are explained below.
Type test: Test performed at the end of the development of an equipment, or at
another specific moment of the life cycle of the equipment, in order to verify the
compliance with what was established in the project.
Routine test: Test performed in all units produced of an equipment, or in
samples, in order to identify possible manufacturing failures. Usually run by the
manufacturer.

9. Preparation
9.1. Feeding

The HGI7000 must be powered with voltage of 220V CA 50Hz/60Hz via the
power cable. The female end of the cable is connected to the rear panel outlet. The male
end of the cable is connected to the power grid.
Variations in the voltage of the electrical network cause variations in the output
voltage of the endurable voltage test.

9.2. EST feed

EST power is not done directly through the power grid. In order for the
HGI7000 to perform leakage current tests, the EST power must first pass through its
internal circuits. For this reason there are two EST sockets on the right side of the back
panel. The POWER IN jack receives the power that will power the EST. The POWER
OUT jack is where the EST should be turned on, it will provide the power.
Normally the leakage current test is done using an external insulator transformer,
as shown below.

Page 22
HGI7000 Operator's Manual

During the leakage current test, when necessary, the DMT1 and DMT2 terminals
of the DM can be accessed via the BDM1 and BDM2 terminals, when configured to do
so. When configuring DMT1 to be accessed via BDM1, a cable must be used to connect
the BDM1 to the EST point where the leakage current measurement is made. The same
goes for DMT2 and BDM2.
The BV110 post gives access to the V110 voltage. When there is a need of
voltage V110 uo, a cable should be used to make the connection of the BV110 to the
POINT of the EST where the voltage is to be applied.

9.4. Connection to external ES interface

The external input and output (I/O) interface must be connected with the
external control and acquisition circuit via the female DB9 connector located on the rear

11. Essay
For the HGI7000 to run the loaded run, the TEST button on the main screen.
If the use ID option is enabled, a screen opens asking for the ID. To edit the ID
the UP, DOWN and ENTER buttons can be used, or a keyboard/barcode reader
connected to the HGI7000 USB port. When the ID edition is finished, the TEST button
should be pressed again.
If the mask use option is enabled, the HGI7000 will look for any configured test
that has a mask that is compatible with the entered ID. If a mask is located, the
HGI7000 will load the test for that mask and proceed with the test. If no compatible
mask is found, the HGI7000 will show a screen that the entered ID is not compatible
with any mask.

The EST id will be requested, and the EST serial number is usually used. To
adjust the identification number, use the BELOW, UP and ENTER buttons. To start the
test press the TEST button. This setting can be changed in item 10.4 this manual.

To proceed with the test, press TEST again with the test tips and EST connected
to the equipment.
From that moment the trial was started. While the BLUE LED is lit, do not touch
the EST.

11.1. Assay - dielectric stiffness (HP)

During any HP measurement, the top line of the product will show the
description of the assay, as well as which of the HP measurements (numerical order) is
being performed, as shown in the image below (description "Assay01" and measure 01).
If the Start option of the measure in question is set to Manual, the window below will
be shown and the HGI7000 will only start applying the voltage after the operator
presses the TEST button.

HP measurements are made with the HGI7000 applying the voltages configured
during the configured times. If at any point in the measurement any current is checked
above the configured maximum current, the measurement is interrupted and the result is
failed. The applied voltage follows the initial value, test value, and final value
configured as shown in the following image.

Page 38
HGI7000 Operator's Manual

During the measurement, the second line of the screen shows the step of the
measurement, the third line of the screen shows the applied voltage and the current
reading, and the fourth line shows the elapsed time in the present step.

When the output reaches the Voltage I value, the HGI7000 begins to raise the
voltage until it reaches the Tensao value. The duration of this step is given by Time S.

When the output dyes the tensao value, the HGI7000 maintains this tension for
the time given by Time.

Page 39
HGI7000 Operator's Manual

At the end of the previous step, the HGI7000 decreases output voltage until it
reaches tensao F. The time of this step is given by Time D.

When the voltage reaches the tensao f value the measure is considered
terminated. If during the entire measure no current value read exceeded the value set
tothe limit for themeasure, the measure is considered approved.
If the Partial Result setting is enabled, the result of the measure is shown
individually.
If there is no fail, the result screen shows the applied voltage and the maximum
current reading. The green LED is access.

If the measurement has been disproved due to a current greater than the
maximum limit, an overcurrent disapproval message is shown, along with the applied
voltage and the maximum current reading. The red LED is access. If the measured
current is indicated by the word SUP means that the current has exceeded the
measurement limit of the equipment (30mA).

If the measurement has been disproved due to a current lower than the minimum
limit, a low current disapproval message is shown, along with the applied voltage and
current reading. The red LED is access.

The measure can be stopped at any time. To stop the measurement it is

necessary to press the TEST button, the outputs will be disabled and the interrupt screen
is shown, containing the options to cancel the test or restart the measure.

Page 40

11.2. Test - ground resistance (GB)

During any GB measurement, the top line of the bye will show the description
of the test, as well as which of the GB (numerical order) measurements is being
performed, as shown in the image below (description "Test01" and measure 01). If the
Start option of the measure in question is set to Manual, the window below will be
shown and the HGI7000 will only start applying the voltage after the operator presses
the TEST button.

GB measurements are made with the HGI7000 applying the configured current
during the configured time. Initially the current is adjusted to the target value, then the
HGI7000 applies the current during the configured time.

During the measurement, the second line of the screen shows the step of the
measurement, the third line of the screen shows the applied voltage and the current
reading, and the fourth line shows the elapsed time.

Page 41
HGI7000 Operator's Manual

When the output reaches the target current value, the HGI7000 maintains the
current value for the configured time.

After the measurement time has elapsed, the power is switched off. If the
calculated resistance is within the configured range, the measure is considered
approved.
If the Partial Result setting is enabled, the result of the measure is shown
individually.
If there is no fail, the result screen shows the applied voltage and the maximum
current reading. The green LED is access.

If the measurement has been disproved due to a resistance greater than the
maximum limit, a very high resistance disapproval message is shown, along with the
applied current and calculated resistance. The red LED is access.

If the measure has been disproved due to a resistance lower than the minimum
limit, a very low resistance disapproval message is shown, along with the applied
current and calculated resistance. The red LED is access.

Page 42
HGI7000 Operator's Manual

The measure can be stopped at any time. To stop the measurement it is necessary
to press the TEST button, the outputs will be disabled and the interrupt screen is shown,
containing the options to cancel the test or restart the measure.

11.3. Test - leakage current (LC)

During a test, before starting the LC measurement series, the HGI7000 reads the
power voltage used by est. This reading is done only once and does not depend on the
number of LC measures that are configured.
Before measuring the feed, the HGI7000 shows a start screen.

9.2the test. The HGI7000 will measure the power voltage of the EST.

If the power is within the range configured for the test, the HGI7000 proceeds to
perform the LC measurements. Otherwise, a screen shows the voltage reading and gives
you the option to remeasure the power voltage or cancel the test. The test must not
proceed if the supply voltage is out of bounds.

After reading the supply voltage, the HGI7000 proceeds with the performance of
lc measurements.
During any LC measurement, the top line of the layer will show the description
of the assay, as well as which of the LC (numerical order) measurements is being
performed, as shown in the image below (description "Assay01" and measure 01). If the
Start option of the measure in question is set to Manual, the window below will be

Page 43
HGI7000 Operator's Manual

shown and the HGI7000 will only start applying the voltage after the operator presses
the TEST button.

LC measurements are made with the HGI7000 generating configured fault co-
ordinators and measuring the leakage current over the DM. applying the configured
current during the configured time. Initially the current is adjusted to the target value,
then the HGI7000 applies the current during the configured time. Each measurement
can be separated into four different stages.

When there is a need to change the position of the cables before a measure is
started, the start setting for this measure must be set to Manual. So while the result of
the last measurement is shown the operator can handle the cables and the measurement
starts only when the START button is pressed.

Page 44
HGI7000 Operator's Manual

When the measurement starts, the LTC10M positions all its internal keys as
configured as the measure is configured. After that, during time Time1 nothing is done.

After the standby time the current reading begins to be done. This step lasts
Time2.

Page 45
HGI7000 Operator's Manual

After the measurement time has elapsed, the currents stop being monitored. If
the current readings are within the configured range, the measure is considered
approved.
If the Partial Result setting is enabled, the result of the measure is shown
individually.
If there is no disapproval, the result screen shows the power voltageand
continuous alternating current readings. The green LED is access.

If the measure has been disproved due to a current reading greater than the
ceiling, the failure is charged in the reading in question. The same is done if there is
any current reading below the minimum limit. The red LED is access in these cases. If
the measured current is indicated by the word SUP it means that the current has
exceeded the measurement limit of the equipment (10000μA).

The measure can be stopped at any time. To stop the measurement it is necessary
to press the TEST button, the outputs will be disabled and the interrupt screen is shown,
containing the options to cancel the test or restart the measure.

14. Transformer
If leakage current testing is required with the EST fed at a voltage other than the
available electrical network voltage, an external transformer must be used.
In the case of IEC 60601-1, the test shall be carried out with the EST powered
by a voltage with 110% of the value of the highest declared network voltage.
The possibility of using an autotransformer is vetoed, as galvanic insulation
between the primary and secondary windings of the transformer is required. The neutral
conductor on the secondary side of the transformer must be connected to the grounding
conductor.

A transformer is supplied by
Entran together with the HGI7000. The
default power of this transformer is
500VA, and other powers can be
specified during purchase.
This transformer has multiple
outputs, with gains from 10%. The
existence of multiple outputs allows
the operator to select the most
convenient transformation relationship.

The reading frequency is 1 sample per second.
The reading interval is adjusted automatically.
The maximum peak current, summing up the AC and DC components, is 14.1 mA.
Reading in CA can be done at a different interval than the DC reading, however,
interval 1 cannot be used simultaneously with interval 3 (in this case the intervals
would be adjusted to 2 and 3).

it. Any operation ofthe appliance must be communicated to the manufacturer for
therepair to be carried out by themanufacturer.

16.1. Cleaning

Cleaning the hgi7000 cabinet as well as panel should be done with a slightly
damp cloth and neutral detergent.
Ensure that the equipment is switched off when cleaning. The power cord must
be disconnected.
Do not use materials such as kerosene, thinner oralcohol. Andinjury can affect
the colors and impressions on the equipment.

16.2. Fuse

A protective fuse is located on the rear panel of the HGI7000. If it is necessary

to change it, replace it with a fuse of 3A 250V 5mmx20mm.

16.3. Error codes

The appearance on the HGI7000 screen of some message titled Fatal Error
means that the software has detected an issue that prevented the program from
continuing.
This type of error is caused by some corruption in the software. When this type
of failure occurs the HGI7000 must be rebooted and the procedure redone. If the
problem persists the equipment should be routed for maintenance (if possible with the
description of the problem and the codes of the errors reported).

16.4. Mechanical parts

Some mechanical components of the HGI7000 have a defined service life. Upon
realizing any failure in any of these components the equipment must be sent for
maintenance.
Front panel switches have a fairly long service life if operated properly, as
shown below.

Test results are not sent to the computer - Check that the setting to send results is
or printer. enabled.
- Check that the cable used is the correct
one and is well connected.
- Check that the computer or printer are
turned on and properly prepared.

16.5. Battery

The correct time and date values of the HGI7000 are maintained by a battery
when the equipment is turned off. The battery used is lithium ion. Due to its limited
lifetime, it is recommended that it be changed every 4 years.

16.6. Calibration

To ensure the operation of the HGI7000 according to thespecifications, it deve

be calibrated regularly. The HGI7000 calibration manual must be requested from
