SUMMARY OF THE ARTICLE ENTITLED « HOW HEALTHY IS THE FRENCH HEALTH SYSTEM

(Between 225 and 275 words / the original article contains 1278 words)

In accordance with the World Health Organisation (WHO), France has been considered the best country to offer
healthcare and has been described as high-quality and considerate of the rights of the patient. France has also been
ranked top 5 countries to have the cancer, heart attack, and stoke survival rates. The healthcare system has been
ranked quite high because they believe that receiving a cure is better than to be falling ill in the first place. However,
this is to be carefully interpreted as it depends on the criteria of what people consider to be “good” or the “best”
type of healthcare. In order rebuild the country, The National Council of Resistance implements and supports the
country through offering benefits and public health care insurance. The benefits and the public health care system
are based on the principles that all needs will be anticipated, and all needs will be met. France’s healthcare system is
also said to be the most cost efficient with visits to the doctors costing approximately €25. Consequently, there are
still improvements needed to the system such as people living in ‘medical deserts’ and not being able to access
doctors or medical advice and those who lack financial stability don’t seek medical advice or treatment simply
because they cannot afford to do so. Once adjustments have been considered, the health care system will be able to
deal with the various challenges the aging population of France has for example, effectively tackling diseases and
promoting a health lifestyle for all.
