Recreational therapy, also known as therapeutic recreation, is a systematic

process that uses recreation and other activity-based interventions to address the
assessed needs of individuals with illnesses and/or disabling conditions, as a means to
psychological and physical health, recovery and well-beingThe purpose of the RT
process is to improve or maintain physical, cognitive, social, emotional and spiritual
functioning in order to facilitate full participation in life.

Personal description:
I know that all that was probably confusing for some people that dont understand
those terms, but how I view the career as a Recreational Therapist is helping any
individual learn and find skills to help them in day to day scenarios through activity
based interventions. These activities could be games, outdoor recreation, sports, arts and
crafts, basically anything that clients are interested in. These interventions are very
positive and uplifting and that's why I choose Recreational therapy as a way of treatment.
