THE KLINGER PISTON VALVE

The first ever Seat less and Glandless Piston valve Invented in 1922. The Klinger piston
valve has been in existence for more than Ninety years, including Thirty years in India.

The Seat less and Glandless concept is very simple with resilient rings in conjunction with
a metallic Piston form a leak-proof system, which is supremely effective and durable.

Rings -The heart of the valve. Uni Klinger offers application based choices.

The KORP Ring-For standard applications like Steam. Why. Because it has a wide temp,
Pressure and Media resistance. Impregnated with Graphite and elastomer bonding,
imparts excellent resilience and lubrication properties, so necessary in the Piston valves.

KFG- Klingerflon, Glass reinforced PTFE for Refrigerant, Pharma and various Chemical
applications, up to (-) 80Deg C.

KxGT- [Klinger extreme-Graphite and Tanged], is a Graphite ring, with temperature

resistance from [Cryogenic] (-)196 Deg C to 560 Deg C.

USP is manufacturing method. Klinger rings use Alternate Graphite lamellae whose
density to porosity is adjusted to give some compressibility and Steel shims which are
TANGED, to ensure Integrity ,excellent resiliency as well as recovery on Hot tightening.

Proven performance of these valves on more than 230 Industrial media. In India we
extended the base by adding another 80 new media.

More than a Million valve installations are out there in the field. Variety of installations
encompassing, All industry segments, Critical-Non-critical, Mild to Severe, Simple to
Complex, Hazardous to Inert, Low pressure to High pressure, Cryogenic to High Temp
applications. Approvals from all the Consultants the presence is wide and deep.

Choice of Material from Std Carbon Steels to Exotic St Steels,

The Pressure balanced as well as un-balanced design- for sizes beyond 50mm.
The unbalanced design is ideally recommended for Vacuum applications up to 10-3 Torr,
and can be modified to handle finer vacuum too.

Klinger valves have been tested for Helium leak test and Fire Safe. Leakage rate: 10
torr liters per second has been documented.

The Forged Piston valve Mfd as per API std. Inclined design for better flow characteristics,
FOUR BOLT design as per the demands of the API stds, and standard bore for max flow.
Piston valves Add on Features: Actuators [Pneumatic, Electro-pneumatic and Hydraulic],
Heating Jackets, Extended Spindles and Regulating characteristics.

Easy availability of spares, Interchangeable spares, Simple tools, Ease of maintenance,

Assistance during Installation and Commissioning and a prompt After Sales Service is what
sets Uni Klinger apart.

Uni Klinger - Think of Solution. Think of us.

15 mm to 40 mm of valves are available in reduced
bore design by these competitors. It is not a sound
engineering practice to take reduced bore design.
Sizes up to 40 mm contributed to 50 to 60 % of the
market share. Hence competitors saving money by
giving the products not complying with standards.
UKL give these valves with standard bore.
Two bolt designs offered in sizes 15 to 20 mm which
is again not as per standard. The standard demands
that the valve should have minimum four studs on the
body and bonnet assembly .UKL complies by the
standard, giving 4 bolt design, inclined pattern for
improved flow characteristics and standard bore for
improved Cv.
UKL has a ongoing collaboration with Klinger, who are the inventors of Piston valve have
complete competency in the product.

The surface finish in UKL case is Mirror finish, Klinger has been mfg PV for the last 90 years
with growing acceptability worldwide. If any product can claim Class VI zero leak valve, it is
the UKL KPV.

UKL provides Burnished Piston and Bore.

There is a reason for PTFE sandwich; there is also a alternative of doing away with PTFE. UKL
has both options, and more, depending on applications.

The rings are asbestos based, and have a wider base w.r.t. applications, temperature etc.
Being more resilient give class VI or Zero leaks.

UKL has also other options which are Graphite based with a far wider range of applications
[(-) 196deg C to (+) 560Deg.C]. Any claim of UKL temp limitations of 300Deg C is nothing but
ignorance.

Commonly used Graphite rings are sandwiched between SS Foils. Graphite does not have
resiliency at all. Knowing this UKL devised its version of Graphite rings with TANGED SS
inserts, alternating graphite lamina, imparting resiliency, resistance, with temp range of
[-]196 to [+]560Deg.C

UKL has more options, for the buyer. People who know have only to speak to UKL when in
doubt. Inventory is the last thing on their mind.

Competing manufacturers have common body for 15 and 20mm, so they conveniently take
the dimension of 20mm, and claim larger sealing area for both 15 mm & 20 mm valves.

UKL have different bodies for 15 and 20mm so different bore and different sealing and flow
area.

All competitors mfr Valves, 15 - 40mm are A105, which are reduced bore, by design. Yet UKL
has std bore for both 15 as well as 20mm and so forth, which is intermediate between
Reduced and Full bore.

Klinger could have increased the sealing area by increasing the ht. of the rings, but Klinger
knows better than that, as increase in Ht has its own disadvantage, which affects the flow.
Competition has perforce to resort to increase in ht for improving sealing area due to non
resiliency of graphite and quality of rings.
Contemporary Forged valves which are A105, are #800, as per their spec. Class 800 are
generally available only in API stds. Which clearly state that any forged valve, #800, should
be a 4 bolt design, which UKL is providing and other doesn’t. Further UKL gives an inclined
bonnet which gives improved Cv and flow characteristics.

UKL has an on-going Techno -Commercial collaboration with Klinger who are the inventors of
Piston valves.
