Goals and Action Plan

Professional Written Expression:

I plan on getting better at my written communication, in the
specific area of whiteboard writing. To do this I will practice with weekly
notes to the residents on my floor via the whiteboard outside of my dorm
room. I will also use the whiteboard during History of Mathematics office
hours to practice my writing math. My main goal is to get better at showing
the difference between similar letters such as c/e, +/t, and 2/z. To make
sure I am keeping up with my goal, I will ask my friend Kimberly about my
handwriting the last week of the month during our weekly office hours for
History of Mathematics.

Works effectively with limited supervision:

This is not a worry of mine for any other class than the AP
Statistics class I am in for practicum. I actively avoid Statistics in my
academic career, and feel like a fish out of water in my ability to help
students through this class without help. Mr. Dean gave me the textbook
that they use for the course and I will try my hardest to be at least a chapter
ahead of students so I can support their questions in class. This will be
measured by how much assistance I can give during my time in the
practicum portion of the class. This will be measured through conversations
with Mr. Dean reflecting right after I run activities in his classroom. He and I
have talked about getting me teaching practice as much as possible, so
having reflections on how effective my teaching and how I can learn to
depend on his assistance less and less is one of my goals.
