Quick Start
1 Safety Precautions
To use the device properly and safely, read the safety precautions carefully before using
the device and strictly observe these precautions when using the device.
Safety precautions:
 Do not look into the optical port without eye protection.
 Keep the device out of the reach of children as the components or accessories may be
swallowed.
 Install the device in strict compliance with the requirements of the supplier. Reserve
a space of at least 10 cm above and around the device for heat dissipation. During the
installation, keep the device away from heat or water sources, and electric appliances
that generate strong magnetic or electric fields, such as microwave ovens,
refrigerators, and mobile phones.
 The power supply voltage of the device must meet the requirements on the input
voltage of the device.
 Do not use any power adapters that are not in the standard configuration. Otherwise,
the device may malfunction or be unsafe.
 Dry your hands before connecting or disconnecting cables. Stop the device and
switch the device off before connecting or disconnecting cables.
 Do not place any object on the device, preventing the device from being damaged
due to overheating or deformation.
 Prevent objects, such as metal or water, from entering the device through the heat
dissipation hole.
 Switch the device off and disconnect all cables, including the power cable, network
cable, and phone cable, during periods of lightning activities.
 Do not lead the strength member of the optical fiber or other metal parts indoors. Do
not connect network cables, phone cables, power adapters, or power adapter cables
outdoors, preventing device damage and bodily injuries that are prone to occur
during thunderstorms.
 If an abnormality occurs, for example, liquid entering the device, smoke, unusual
sound, and smell, immediately stop the device, switch the device off, disconnect all
cables (such as the power cable, optical cable, and network cable) from the device,
and contact the authorized service center.
 Do not disassemble the device without permission. In the event of a device fault,
contact the authorized service center.
 Dispose of packing materials and old/abandoned devices in accordance to local laws
and regulations (recycling them is strongly recommended).

2
 Do not change the structure, safety design, or performance design of the device
without prior authorization.
Fireproof precautions:
 Keep the device away from large heat source equipment, bare flames, and
high-power devices, such as electric heaters, candles, and blow drier, to eliminate
safety risks.
 Replace deteriorated cables or power socket facilities on the power supply line or
near the device in a timely manner to eliminate safety risks.

2 Installing the MA5671

NOTE
 Do not install the MA5671 outdoors or in an outdoor cabinet.
 The MA5671 can be horizontally placed on a workbench or mounted onto a wall. Do not
install the MA5671 in other modes, such as mounted to the ceiling.
Horizontally Placed on a Workbench
The following figure shows the MA5671 horizontally placed on a workbench.

3
Mounted onto a Wall
Step 1 Mark the positions of two holes (with a space the same as that between wall-mounting
holes) used for mounting the MA5671.
Step 2 Select a proper drill according to the outer screw diameter. Use a hammer drill to drill the
marked positions on the wall. Then, clean the wall and install two expansion bolts.
Step 3 Use a screwdriver to fasten the screws into the expansion bolts, leaving the heads of the
screws 3 mm over the wall. Then, mount the MA5671 to the screws.

NOTE
The tools and installation materials involved in the preceding installation steps must be
provided by customers.

3 Connecting Cables

5
Performing the Following Steps to Connect the MA5671 to Each Product
Based on the Preceding Cable Connections
Step 1 Use an optical fiber to connect the OPTICAL port on the MA5671 to the optical port in
the wall.

NOTE
 The optical fiber connector connected to the OPTICAL port must be of the SC/UPC type.
 The bending radius of optical fibers must be greater than 30 mm in optical fiber
deployment for proper optical fiber running.
Step 2 Use an Ethernet cable to connect the LAN port to network port on the PC or IP set top
box (STB).
Step 3 Use a power adapter to connect the POWER port to the power socket.
Step 4 Press ON/OFF to switch the MA5671 on.

6
4 Logging In to the Web Page
Performing the Following Steps to Log In to the MA5671's Web Page
Step 1 Set the IP address of the PC to be in the same network segment as the management IP
address of the MA5671. For example:
 IP address: 192.168.100.100
 Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

NOTE
The default management IP address and subnet mask of the MA5671 are as follows:
 IP address: 192.168.100.1
 Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Step 2 Enter the management IP address of the MA5671 in the address bar of the browser and
press Enter.
Then, the login window is displayed.
Step 3 In the login window, enter the user name (telecomadmin) and password (default:
admintelecom), select a web page language, and click Login.
After the password is authenticated, the MA5671's web page is displayed.

 If you perform no operation within 5 minutes after logging in to the web page, the
MA5671 automatically returns to the login page.
 The MA5671 is automatically locked if you incorrectly enter the user name or password
for three consecutive times and will be unlocked in 1 minute.
 After logging in to the web page using the initial user name and password, change the
login password.
