STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

GENERAL PROBLEM

This study’s goal is to know the study habits of NEHS

Senior High School students and their home environment in terms of
these variables.

SPECIFIC PROBLEM

This study’s goal is to also seek the answers from the question
below:

1. What is the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of:

1.1 Age

1.2 Gender?

2. What home environment challenges encountered by the respondents in

terms of:

2.1 Productivity

2.2 Motivation

2.3 Student grades?

3. What home environment problems encountered by the respondents in

terms of:

3.1 Comfortability

3.2 Resources

3.3 Time schedules?

4. Is there a significant relationship between the demographic profile

respondents and the problems they encountered in their home
environment?

5. Is there a significant relationship between the demographic profile

respondents and the problems they encountered in finding their study
habits?

6. Is there a significant relationship between the home environment

and the problems they encountered in finding their study habits?
7. What are your recommendations in this study based on the findings.

THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK:

This study is based on the theory of ecological systems theory by Urie

Bronfenbrenner.

Ecological Systems Theory: According to this theory, the

development of an individual is impacted by the complex
interaction of numerous environmental systems. You can consider
the following levels of influence in your research:

1. Microsystem - the student's immediate environment, including

their home setting (family dynamics, parental participation,
access to resources such as books and a quiet study space).

2. Mesosystems - the interactions and connections that exist

between distinct microsystems, such as the relationship between
the home and school environments (teacher expectations, homework
regulations).

3. Exosystem - the external surroundings, such as parents' work

schedules and social support networks can have an indirect impact
on the student's home environment and study habits.

The IV or Independent Variable is the Home Environment, showcasing

that the cause, the DV or the Dependent Variable is the result, the
Study habits. The middle of the results however are the ones affecting
how will the DV or result will turn out.

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION

Scope:

The aim of this study is to determine how the home environment, which includes factors like parental
involvement, income, physical space, noise level, and resource availability, affects the study habits of
students at NUEVA ECIJA HIGH SCHOOL-SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL. The study habits cover things
like time management, inspiration, focus, self-control, and learning techniques. The primary method for
gathering data for the study will be a survey questionnaire, which will be a quantitative research design.
The senior high school students enrolled at NUEVA ECIJA HIGH SCHOO-SENIOR HIG SCHOOL for
the academic year 2023–2024 make up the study's target population.
Delimitation: The study will focus only on senior high school students at NUEVA ECIJA HIGH
SCHOOL-SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL. The study will also limit its scope to the students' living situations
and study practices, and it won't take into account additional factors that can influence how well students
perform academically, such as, the curriculum, peer pressure, or personal problems. The students' self-
reported data will be the only data used in the study, and no objective data will be used to validate their
answers. The study will assume that the students will be accurate and honest in their responses to the
questionnaire.

Locale of the study

This study will be carried out at NEHS - SHS, which is located
at Llanera Street in the Quezon District Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija.
During the Second Semester of the School Year 2023 - 2024.

Cabanatuan City is situated in the outhern part of Central

Luzon. Cabanatuan was founded as a Barrio of Gapan in 1750 and became
the Municipality and capital of the Nueva Ecija in 1780. Cabanatuan is
a first class city in the province of Nueva Ecija, Philippines. It is
composed of 89 barangays. According to the 2020 census, it has a
population of 327, 325 people. It's strategic location along the
Cagayan Valley Road has made the city a major economic, educational,
medical, entertainment, shopping, and transportation center in Nueva
Ecija and nearby provinces in the region.

The NEHS SHS division used the Annex building and additional
Grade 7 classrooms during it is first year of operation. The faculty
room and the administration office were two of them. Since it was
still integrated with the junior high school at the time, The SHS
department was then supervised by the school's principal, Dr. Monica
B. Mallari.

Currently Dr. Maria Lourdes DC. Ramirez is in charge of NEHS

SHS. The NEHS SHS is a school consisting of two grade levels under the
K- 12 program with the total enrollment of 2058. It provides a variety
of academic tracks including science, Technology, Engineering and
Mathematics (STEM), Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM),
Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS), Technical Vocational
Livelihood (TVL).

Significance of the Study:

This study is conducted to benefit the following:

Academic Performance: Knowing how a student's home environment affects their study habits might help
educators identify potential barriers to a student's academic success. This information can assist
policymakers, parents, and educators in creating plans to support pupils in getting better results.

Parental Involvement: Parents should take note of students because it clarifies the value of establishing a
positive learning environment at home. The study's findings shed light on how elements like noise,
illumination, organization, and a clean atmosphere, among others, might impact a student's study habits.
Parents may improve the study environment and assist their kids in developing better study habits that can
help them succeed academically by being aware of these variables. Parents can also use the study's
findings as a guide to improve their child's study environment and make adjustments that will increase
their child's motivation and focus.

Identifying Challenges:

This research can help identify challenges students may face due to their home environment, such as
distractions or lack of resources. Addressing these challenges early can lead to improved learning
outcomes.
In conclusion, studying the correlation between the home environment and study habits is important
because it can enhance academic results, provide students with greater support, and provide a deeper
understanding of the elements that affect learning.
