Temporary Repair of A Damaged or Missing Belly-Fairing Seal

WARNING: INSTALL THE VACUUM PADS OF THE WINGRIP SYSTEM ON THE AREA OF THE WING WHERE YOU CAN WALK.
BEFORE YOU PUT THE VACUUM PAD IN POSITION, MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS NO DIRT, OIL, SHARP OBJECTS, W
ATER OR OTHER CONTAMINATION.
PUT THE VACUUM PAD IN POSITION AS FAR AS POSSIBLE FROM THE EDGES OF THE WORK AREA (NOT ADJACENT
TO JOINTS AND/OR PROUD-HEADED RIVETS/SCREWS).
IF THE VACUUM PADS ARE NOT INSTALLED CORRECTLY, YOU CAN FALL FROM THE WING, WHICH CAN CAUSE YOU
INJURY OR KILL YOU.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU START WORK, YOU MUST PUT ON A SAFETY HARNESS AND ATTACH IT TO THE ACCESS PLATFORM. W
ITHOUT A SAFETY HARNESS, YOU CAN FALL. THIS CAN KILL YOU OR CAUSE YOU INJURY.

3. Job Set-up

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Energize the ground service network

B. Safety Precautions
(1) In the cockpit, on FLAPS control panel 114VU:
- Install the LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION (98D27803000000) on the flap and slat control lever.
- Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the flaps and the slats.
(2) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized and put them in the maintenance configuration

C. Get Access
(1) Put on and attach the HARNESS,SAFETY (98L12003001000) before you start work in the work area.
(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position at zone 190.
(3) Install the WINGRIP (15330-00) before you do work on the wing Ref. AMM TASK 12-00-00-481-804.
4. Procedure

A. Temporary Repair of a Damaged or Missing Belly-Fairing Seal
(1) Examine the structure adjacent to the belly fairing seal for signs of chafing.
(2) Repair the seal of the belly fairing panels as follows:
NOTE: This repair is not applicable to fusible panels 147AT and 148AT.
1 Apply the Adhesive Film Tape-- Aluminium Foil - (Material Ref. 05RAB9) on the panel joint of the damaged o
r missing seal. Make sure that the overlap is in the limits that follow:
a Make sure that the overlap is more than 20 mm (0.79 in.) on each side of the damaged or missing se
al.
b Make sure that the overlap is not more than 500 mm (19.69 in.) on each side of the damaged or miss
ing seal.
c Make sure that the overlap is as long as possible between 20 mm (0.79 in.) and 500 mm (19.69 in.).
d If the overlap is less than 20 mm (0.79 in.) on each side of the damaged area:
- Replace the seal at the next maintenance, or
- Replace the seal at the next 1000 Flight Hour (FH) scheduled maintenance

(b) If the damage is more than 500 mm (19.69 in.), contact Airbus.
(3) Repair the seal of fusible panels 147AT and 148AT as follows:
(a) If the damaged or missing seal is 300 mm (11.81 in.) or less in length, and the damaged area is 25 percent or les
s of the full length of the two seals of one panel:
1 Apply the Adhesive Film Tape-- Aluminium Foil - (Material Ref. 05RAB9) on the panel joint of the damaged o
r missing seal. Make sure that the overlap is in the limits that follow:
a Make sure that the overlap is more than 20 mm (0.79 in.) on each side of the damaged or missing se
al.
b Make sure that the overlap is not more than 100 mm (3.94 in.) on each side of the damaged or missi
ng seal.
(b) If the damaged or missing seal is more than 300 mm (11.81 in.) in length or the damaged area is more than 25 p
ercent of the full length of the two seals of one panel:
1 Apply the Adhesive Film Tape-- Aluminium Foil - (Material Ref. 05RAB9) on the panel joint of the damaged o
r missing seal. Make sure that the overlap is in the limits that follow:
a Make sure that the overlap is a minimum of 20 mm (0.79 in.) on each side of the damaged area (loca
tion of the damage on the seal).
b Make sure that the overlap is as long as possible between 20 mm (0.79 in.) and 100 mm (3.94 in.).
2 If the overlap is not in the given limits, replace the seals Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-11-000-803 and Ref. AMM T
ASK 53-35-11-400-803.
(4) Until you replace the seal, do a check of the Adhesive Film Tape-- Aluminium Foil - (Material Ref. 05RAB9) each day for c
orrect condition.
(5) Replace the seal at the next maintenance or before a maximum of 1600 FH Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-11-000-803 and Ref. A
MM TASK 53-35-11-400-803 or Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-13-000-803 and Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-13-400-803.
5. Close-up

A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the wingrip from the wing Ref. AMM TASK 12-00-00-481-804.
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Remove the safety harness.
(5) In the cockpit, remove the LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION (98D27803000000).
(6) Remove the warning notice(s).
(7) Remove all the fixtures, tools, test and support equipment used during this procedure.
