Information about Seoul


Seoul, the capital of South Korea, is a huge metropolis
where modern skyscrapers, high-tech subways and
pop culture meet Buddhist temples, palaces and street
markets. Notable attractions include futuristic
Dongdaemun Design Plaza, a convention hall with
curving architecture and a rooftop park;
Gyeongbokgung Palace, which once had more than
7,000 rooms; and Jogyesa Temple, site of ancient
locust and pine trees.

food
Kimchi.
Kimchi, is a
traditional Korean
banchan consisting of
salted and fermented
vegetables, most
commonly using napa cabbage or Korean radish. A wide selection of
seasonings are used, including gochugaru, spring onions, garlic,
ginger, and jeotgal, etc.
Bibimbap.
Bibimbap, is a Korean rice dish. The term bibim means "mixing"
and bap is cooked rice. It is served as a bowl of warm white rice
topped with namul and gochujang. Egg and sliced meat are common
additions, stirred together thoroughly just before eating.
Red rice cakes (tteokbokki).
Tteokbokki 떡뽁이 means ‘Sauteed or stir-fried Korean rice cake‘
and is a very popular Korean street food that you will see more often
in the winter. You will see chewy cylindrical rice cakes simmering in
spicy thick sweet gochujang sauce. Btw, Tteokbokki is sometimes
also spelled ddukbokki, topokki, dukbokki and ddeokbokki.

Weather
The climate of Seoul
features a humid
continental climate with
dry winter, called "Dwa" in
the Köppen climate
classification, with four highly distinct seasons. In summer the
influence of the North Pacific high-pressure system brings hot,
humid weather with temperatures soaring as high as 35 °C (95 °F)
on occasion.
Typical clothes
Hanbok
The hanbok is a traditional clothing of the Korean people. The term
hanbok is primarily used by
South Koreans; North
Koreans refer to the clothes
as chosŏn-ot ( 조 선 옷 ).
Koreans have worn hanbok
since antiquity.

Population
Seoul's 2023 population is now estimated at 9,988,049. In 1950, the
population of Seoul was 1,021,031. Seoul has grown by 12,340 in the
last year, which represents a 0.12% annual change.
