This Is THE END Poster Analysis

Six of the funniest celebrities in Hollywood, James Franco, Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen, Jay

Baruchel, Danny McBride and Craig Robinson, end up being piled up in a hole with a rock in

the middle for them to stand and makes it seem like the floor is falling apart. The background

shows a “Beverly Hills” sign that looks like it got ripped off from the ground and a fire going

everywhere in the Hollywood area since it shows fire going close to the huge Hollywood sign.

All these background elements make it look like there is an apocalypse going on.

Everyone’s expression in the movie poster has a scared and confused expression. Since

it looks like they’re looking up at the sky it’s possible they saw something and is making them

have that type of pf expression. They’re struck between a giant hole, while hugging each other

close, and there is no way to get out without risking themselves getting to the other side safely.

In the bottom of the hole, you can see a bright orange color meaning that there’s lava at the

bottom of the hole. The whole road is cracked and looks as if they’re going to keep cracking till

pieces fall off the ground. They make this expression to make their audience more curious on

what can this movie be about since they’re casting funny people with a scary background

together.

The texts in the movie poster shows us the cast of the main characters in the movie on

top of everything that is happening and at the bottom showing us the title in white bold letters

“THIS IS THE END” with a bottom comment “with Michael Cera and Emma Watson”. The

author when making this movie poster wanted everyone to pay attention to the title since it’s

huge and is slightly in the bottom middle of everything that’s happening with the six stars. They

add “with Michael Cera and Emma Watson” to add more celebrities other people may be

interested in and make them want to watch the movie because of them. This makes the audience

wonder what type of role they will play or what is going on with them throughout the movie.

The last title that pops out is “NOTHING RUINS A PARTY LIKE THE END OF THE

WORLD” it’s in the very bottom of the poster with big bolded white letters. The author did this

to make the audience think about what was happening before all the chaos in the background of

the poster. Also, making it seem like nothing else can stop a party unless everyone is dying and

the whole world is ending.

The color scheme of this movie poster is very bright orange and dark colors making it

have a dark mood but since the celebrities are very silly making it seem funny because how did

they get in that type of situation. The meaning of this is for the audience to wonder what is

happening throughout the movie and see how they will survive this apocalyptic plot.

These elements have a lot of meaning behind it to make the audience want more and

make them want to watch the full movie and buy tickets or buy it online. There are different

ways for the author to catch the audiences attention and it was mostly having the most popular

comedian actors to star in the movie with the weirdest plot twist ever.
