 ‫مطالبات البطالة األمریكیة ترتفع لألسبوع الثالث على التوالي مع استمرار تسریح العمال‬

‫ارتفع عدد األمریكیین المتقدمین للحصول على إعانات البطالة بشكل غیر متوقع األسبوع الماضي ‪ ،‬حیث قال‬

‫بعض القتصادیین إن استحقاقات البطالة الفیدرالیة المنتهیة الصالحیة قد تكون الدافع وراء الزیادة‪ .‬ل یزال‬

‫النتعاش القتصادي في الولیات المتحدة على المسار الصحیح ‪ ،‬لكن سوق العمل یشیر إلى أن النمو یتباطأ في‬

‫مواجهة التحدیات التي تتراوح من انتشار متغیر دلتا من ‪ COVID-19‬إلى إعانات البطالة الضعیفة‪ .‬قالت وزارة‬

‫العمل األمریكیة یوم الخمیس إن مطالبات البطالة األسبوعیة ‪ ،‬وهي وكیل لتسریح العمال ‪ ،‬ارتفعت بنسبة ‪11000‬‬

‫أقوى من المتوقع األسبوع الماضي لتصل إلى ‪ . 362.000‬هذا هو األسبوع الثالث على التوالي الذي زادت فیە‬

‫المطالبات األولیة ‪ ،‬و اعلى قراءة منذ اوائل شهر اب ‪.‬‬

‫زاد أرباب العمل في أمریكا بسرعة توظیفهم منذ أن ألغوا‪ ٢٢‬ملیون وظیفة في آذار و نیسان‪ ٢٠٢٠‬حیث أدى‬

‫تفشي فیروس كورونا ‪ -‬وعملیات اإلغالق التي تهدف إلى احتوائە ‪ -‬إلى توقف النشاط القتصادي تقریبًا‪ .‬منذ ذلك‬

‫الحین ‪ ،‬استعاد القتصاد حوالي‪ ١٧‬ملیون وظیفة حیث تفتح الشركات أو توسع ساعات العمل ویعود األمریكیون‬

‫إلى الحانات والمطاعم والفنادق‪.‬‬

 US jobless claims rise for third straight week as layoffs
persist
The number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits unexpectedly rose last

week, with some economists saying that expired federal jobless benefits could be

driving the increase.

The economic recovery in the United States is still on track, but the labour market is

signaling that growth is decelerating in the face of challenges ranging from the spread of

the Delta variant of COVID-19 to stingier jobless benefits.

Weekly jobless claims, a proxy for layoffs, rose by a stronger-than-expected 11,000 last

week to 362,000, the US Department of Labor said on Thursday. That is the third week

in a row that initial claims have increased, and the highest reading since early August.

America’s employers have rapidly increased their hiring since they slashed 22 million

jobs in March and April 2020 as the coronavirus outbreak — and the shutdowns meant

to contain it — brought economic activity to a near-standstill. Since then, the economy

has recovered about 17 million jobs as businesses to open or expand hours and

Americans to return to bars, restaurants and hotels.

But hiring, which has averaged more than 585,000 jobs a month this year, slowed to just

235,000 in August as the delta variant disrupted the recovery. Restaurants and bars cut

nearly 42,000 jobs last month, the first drop this year. Hiring is expected to pick up to

more than 560,000 this month; the Labor Department issues the September jobs report

next week.

‫تكلف ‪ 17‬ألف دينار عراقي في يناير‪/‬كانون الثاني لكل كيس‪ ،‬أي ‪ 50‬كيلوغراما‪ .‬ثم ارتفع‬

‫أصدرت وزارة الزراعة والموارد المائية في ‪ 12‬أكتوبر‪/‬تشرين األول بيانا قالت فيه إنها‬
‫"ستعفو عن الرسوم الجمركية على استيراد األسمدة الكيماوية والمبيدات الحشرية والبذور‬
‫"لتقليل تكاليف زراعة الحبوب‪ ،‬وخاصة القمح والشعير‬

‫وقالت الوزارة في أغسطس آب إن سبب زيادة األسعار هو انخفاض قيمة الدينار مقابل‬
‫الدوالر األمريكي وجائحة فيروس كورونا والزيادة "العالمية" في أسعار األسمدة نافية أن‬
‫يكون ذلك بسبب الرسوم الجمركية‬

An increase in fertilizer prices has affected wheat production in the
Kurdistan Region, farmers told Rudawon Wednesday. This comes a month
after the government announced the removal of customs fees on
importing the product.

“We planted two tons of wheat. I’ve bought a ton for 700,000 [IQD] ... If it
continues like this, it will bring an end to farming. They [the government]
don’t keep any promises [...] Farmers planted 200 dunams before, now
they can’t even deal with 50 dunams,” KhalisMohammed, a farmer
in Soran, told Rudaw.

Kawa Muhammad, a farmer told Rudaw last month that fertilizer used to
cost 17,000 IQDs in January for each sack, which is 50 kilograms. It
then increased to 25,000 in April and is now 40,000 IQDs.

“Two companies are allowed to bring fertilizers into the Kurdistan Region.
They might put whatever price they want on it, because no one else is
allowed to bring it in,” farmer Kaka Sida Hamad said. “The government
doesn’t follow up with these companies I don’t know why, and farmers
have to pay the large price.”

The Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources(MAWR) on October 12

issued a statement saying they will “pardon customs fees on importing
chemical fertilizers, pesticides and seeds to reduce the costs of planting
grain, especially wheat and barley.”

The ministry in August said the reason for the price increase is the
devaluation of the dinar against the US dollar, the coronavirus pandemic,
and the “global” increase of prices for fertilizers, denying it was because of
custom fees.

Wheat production has decreased all over Iraq due to drought. In 2020,
927,000 tons of wheat was harvested in Nineveh province alone, but
production plunged to 89,000 tons this year, MAWR’s spokesman said.

The water crisis in the Kurdistan Region has also decreased rice production
in Duhok province’s Akrethreefold this year.

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has formed a committee to investigate
and "terminate" widespread goods smuggling at Kurdistan Region border crossings,
a KRG spokesperson told Rudaw from outside the Kurdistan Parliament building on
Monday.

"A committee has been formed as per a decision by the Council of Ministers, to study
the situation in detail. This so-called smuggling definitely exists at border crossings -
not at one specific border crossing, but all those present in Iraq and the Kurdistan
Region," said Samir Hawrami, spokesperson for Kurdistan Region deputy prime
minister Qubad Talabani.

PM Masrour Barzani, Talabani and other members of a KRG delegation were hosted
by parliament on Monday to discuss the Region's issues, upon Barzani's request.

Barzani told parliamentarians that smuggling takes place both in

Iraqi federal government and KRG-controlled areas.

"We have discussed it with Iraqi government for a long time," the Kurdistan Region
premier said.

"Some border crossings are better than others, but generally, ones in the Kurdistan
Region are much better than those in other parts of Iraq," he said, adding that
Baghdad has promised to tackle smuggling at the crossings it controls.

"It is true that sometimes businessmen have tried to import goods to the Region, but
the Region's instructions [for border crossings] have compelled them to bribe
[officials] or do other things at other border crossings to illegally import the goods."
