Information Commissioner Heeralal Samariya was sworn-in as the Chief

Heeralal Samariya was sworn in as the chief of the Central
Information Commission (CIC) by President Droupadi Murmu

• First person from the Dalit community to hold the post.

• Heeralal Samariya was appointed as an information

commissioner on November 7, 2020

• The Chief Information Commissioner Heeralal Samariya also administered the

oath of office to Information Commissioners Anandi Ramalingam and Vinod
Kumar Tiwari at a swearing-in ceremony organised by Central Information
Commission.

• Establishment: The CIC was established by the Central Government in 2005,

under the provisions of the Right to Information Act (2005). It is not a
constitutional body.

• Members: It consists of a Chief Information Commissioner and not more than

ten Information Commissioners.

• The members shall hold office for such term as prescribed by the Central
Government or until they attain the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier.
NMDC Inaugurates its 1st Gold Mine, Mount Celia Gold

• This marks NMDC’s first venture into gold mining.

• The Mt Celia project is located 180km northeast of Kalgoorlie. Kalgoorlie is

Nagendra Nath Sinha, Secretary, Ministry of Steel, unveiled a foundation stone laying
ceremony for mining operations at Mount Celia Gold Project located in Western Australia.

This initiative taken by Legacy Iron Ore Limited, a government-owned steel CPSE, a
subsidiary of NMDC Limited, has been met with great anticipation.

Establishment of the first gold mine in NMDC's extensive portfolio, which is a remarkable
achievement for the organization.

In another development in the mining sector, NMDC is in talks with Australia's Hancock
Prospecting Pvt Ltd for exploration and mining of lithium.

National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC):

• Established: 1958

• NMDC, incorporated as a wholly owned public enterprise of the Government of India, is under
the administrative control of the Ministry of Steel, Government of India.
• NMDC since inception has been involved in exploration of a wide range of minerals including
iron ore, copper, rock phosphate, limestone, dolomite, gypsum, bentonite, magnesite,
diamond, tin, tungsten, graphite, beach sand etc.
• It is the country's largest iron ore producer, producing about 35 million tonnes of iron ore.
• NMDC was classified as a 'Navratna' Public Sector Enterprise by the Department of Public
Enterprises in 2008.
Jagannath Puri Heritage Corridor Project (JPHCP) Will Be Dedicated To The

Raja Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb of Puri has informed that
the Jagannath Temple Corridor Development Project or
Jagannath Puri Heritage Corridor Project (JPHCP) would
be dedicated to the devotees on 17 January next year.

Shri Mandir Parikrama is being built at a cost of Rs 943

crore:

The 1.5 km long and 60 meter wide Shree Setu - Odisha's

first trumpet bridge - will allow vehicles coming from
Bhubaneswar and Brahmagiri to reach the Jagannath
Vallabh parking lot near the temple, temple officials said.

Land acquisition for the project began in November 2019, with over 600 people living around the
temple giving up a crucial 15.64 acres of land for the development of the security zone.

The Puri Heritage Corridor project was first conceived in 2016 and unveiled in December 2019
with the aim of transforming the pilgrimage town into a heritage site of international
importance.

Jagannath Puri is one of the four Dhams of the country:

The great reformer and philosopher Shankaracharya (Adi Shankaracharya) created the original
Char Dham (Puri, Dwarka, Badrinath and Rameshwaram).
Three of the original Char Dham places are Vaishnav (Puri, Dwarka and Badrinath). While one is
Shaivite (Rameshwaram).
Panna Tiger Reserve:
A delegation of senior forest officers and frontline
staff from Cambodia came for training at Panna
Tiger Reserve (PTR) and studied India’s tiger
reintroduction programme and all its aspects.

Panna Tiger Reserve is a critical tiger habitat

located in the Vindhyan mountain range in the
northern part of Madhya Pradesh.

It was declared a Project Tiger Reserve by the

Government of India in 1994

Ken River flows from south to north through the

reserve.

processing facility in Rajkot,Gujarat,

Ghani’s” with the cold-pressed technique, resulting in natural, chemical-free
edible oils rich in healthy nutrients, natural flavor

• Bharat Botanics offers a wide range of natural products, including a variety of

wood-pressed oils, such as Groundnut oil, Coconut (Kopra) Oil, Sesame (Til) Oil,
Mustard (Rai) Oil, Castor (Arandia) Oil, Sunflower (Surajmukhi) Oil, Safflower Oil,
Almond Oil, and many more.

• Uttarakhand's Minister of Health and Education, declared that the state's medical
institutes would provide MBBS courses in Hindi. After Madhya Pradesh,
Uttarakhand would be the second state in the country to launch such a project.

• The Karnataka Health Department has launched Dr Puneeth Rajkumar Hrudaya

Jyoti Yojana to treat people suffering from sudden heart attacks and cardiac issues.

In a significant development for the Indian expatriate community in the United Arab
Emirates, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan held a meeting with the Principals of
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) affiliated schools in Dubai.

One of the significant announcements made during the meeting was the acceptance of a
long-standing demand by CBSE schools to open a regional administrative office in UAE,
recognizing the country’s central role in overseeing CBSE-affiliated schools in the GCC
region.

• The Kerala Responsible Tourism Mission wins the Global Responsible Tourism Award 2023 for
