Welcome

Welcome to Fantastic Furniture Fairfield Site.


It is a requirement whilst on site to follow all the safety procedures discussed in this induction
presentation.

You are encouraged to take the time to go through the presentation and if you have any
queries to discuss them with your Supervisor or Site Contact.

Safety Commitment
Fantastic Furniture has a strong focus on safety, with the purpose of providing our
team, clients and customers high safety standards and expectations.
Fantastic Furniture has a commitment to the safety of its work force, in return it
is expected we all contribute to safety.
This is achieved by:

Site Security

The site has a number of security features to help ensure a safe


workplace for all.

These include:
• Monitored 24 hours a day by Security service
• CCTV located throughout the site
• Random bag and car searches when leaving the site
• Children are not to be brought onsite
Site Access

Access to the site is through the Supply Chain entrance located at 71 Seville
Street, Fairfield East NSW.
Employees, Contractors and Visitors are to proceed to the Supply Chain
Despatch Office located via the Seville Street entrance by following the
pedestrian crossing and via the ramp or stairs. The Site Contact will be notified
to collect and escort the visitor onto the site.
Employees, Contractors and Visitors will proceed to the Supply Chain Despatch
office and wait until the site contact is notified. All Employees, Contractors and
Visitors are required to sign in. To exit the site employees, contractors and
visitors will pass through the Supply Chain Despatch office area and sign out on
departure.

Fantastic Furniture Drug and Alcohol Policy
• Illegal drugs and alcohol are not to be brought onto the site nor consumed on
site.
• Prescription drugs may be brought onto site. Notify your site contact if you are
taking any prescribed substance that may effect your ability to work safely
• Random Drug Testing is conducted on this site
Drug & Alcohol

Insert POLICY
Traffic Management
Vehicles, forklifts and pedestrians move around the site.
• Vehicles move around the site in two way direction but must follow the
direction of travel indicated on the roadway and signage.
• All our MHE have been Speed Limited.
• Tampering with Safety devices is illegal and disciplinary action will result
if safety devices are tampered with.
• Pre Shift forklift checks are required before use of every shift and use of
MHE.
• Pedestrians have right of way and are to use the marked walkways and
footpaths.
• Speed limit is 10km/hr for external areas
• Signage is posted as a guide.
Fantastic Furniture have adopted a Traffic Management Plan that should be
reviewed prior to site entry. A copy will be sent to relevant stakeholders or
available on request.
Traffic Management

All personnel operating Forklifts must have a current and valid


Forklift Licence.
All Staff that will be operating any MHE will have a Verification of
Competency prior to commencing work.
All MHE have been Speed Limited.
Tampering with Safety devices is illegal and disciplinary action will
result if safety devices are tampered with.
Personal Protective Equipment

Minimum PPE required on site is:


• Hi-visibility clothing
• Safety footwear (closed in footwear may be worn to access offices and change
rooms providing walkways are used)
• Additional PPE requirements for the site are indicated by signage or as directed by
your Supervisor or Site Contact (Hearing protection)

PPE Stations are located at various key locations on site (Lounge Factory)
Mobile Phones
Mobile phones/personal handheld devices are only to be used on site for business purposes.
When using a mobile phone, including the use of hands free equipment, your attention must be fully
on the conversation, do not perform other tasks such as: DRIVE, ADJUST MACHINES, UNLOAD
VEHICLES.
When making or receiving a call on a mobile phone, including the use of hands free equipment,
remain stationary on the marked walkways so that you do not move into harms way due to
distraction from the call.
Smoking
There is no smoking within the entire building.
There is a designated smoking area outside the building. Please ask your
supervisor/Manager for the location of these areas.

Theft and Fraud
We take a zero-tolerance approach to Bribery, Corruption and Fraud.
This includes a zero-tolerance to theft.
Fantastic Furniture uses continuous camera and computer tracking
surveillance in our workplace and will take reasonable steps to protect
its property, including stock from theft. Fantastic Furniture may
conduct searches, either randomly or with cause, of your bags, motor
vehicle or other spaces if this is considered necessary.

You agree to such surveillance and searches from the date your
employment starts.

Bullying and Harassment

We are committed to providing a work environment that is pleasant for employees to work in
and conducive to good workplace relations.
Harassment or bullying any person on any basis will not be tolerated.
All reasonable steps will be taken to prevent discrimination and harassment, including sexual
harassment, by ensuring that our team understands the types of behaviours that are not
acceptable in our interactions.
Team members with concerns about workplace conduct can raise their concerns through a
number of established channels, including their leader, People and Safety Team or through our
Speak Up hotline.

Horseplay
Wilful misconduct (practical jokes, fighting wrestling or throwing of materials)
that puts you or others at risk is a breach of statutory requirements and will
result in termination and/or legal action.
All employees and contractors should be aware that where misconduct results in
loss or damage to any party the individual concerned will be held personally
accountable.
The company will not provide any legal assistance to employees involved in
misconduct and may choose to pursue legal action.

Hazards & Risks
We ask all people on site to help us make a safe workplace by reporting
hazards.
If you identify something that you feel is a hazard, tell your Supervisor, Chemicals not stored
Manager, Site Contact or Security Personnel so that the Hazard can be and bunded correctly
assessed and entered into DoneSafe and an action allocated.
Hazards & Risks
High speeds
This site has engineering preventative devices that mitigate the risk of MHE units speeding whilst operating.
Under no circumstances is anyone to tamper with these safety devices.

Other areas for consideration are:


• Use of Chemicals for specific applications (adhesive)
• Areas with High Noise output (Pallet Repair Area/Manufacturing Lounge Factory)
• Areas with Low Head Height
• Forklift Activity Including Walkie Stacker/Pallet Movers
• Heavy Vehicles
• Marked pedestrian walkways across the entire site.
• Shared areas where pedestrians and mobile plant work with in close vicinity of each other
• Working at Heights (pickers)
• Mechanical plant and equipment (Manufacturing/Lounge Factory) requiring training and PPE prior to
use.
Incidents
All incidents that occur on site must be reported immediately they occur.
Reporting incidents helps identify and correct the root cause which will prevent
them from occurring again.
An incident includes:
• Injury
• Damage
• Near Miss
• Environment (Spills)
• Hazards
• Incidents are reported to your Supervisor, Site Contact.
First Aid – Supply Chain
Emergency
The emergency alarm will sound when an emergency occurs.
The alarm has two Stages;
• Stage one is a continuous “Beep-Beep” – Shut down your equipment and
prepare to evacuate. If in a vehicle (car, truck, forklift), park the vehicle out of
the normal traffic access ways.
• Stage two is a continuous “Whoop-Whoop”

When the second stage sounds or when asked to evacuate by an Emergency Warden
immediately stop what you are doing and walk to the designated Assembly Area.
• There are no vehicle movements for the duration of the emergency.
• If you identify an emergency situation inform you nearest supervisor/Manager.

The Assembly areas are:


• Footpath parallel to round-about near the delivery access gate

Lock Out Tag Out

Lock Out Tag Out is a process where by a physical restraint of all hazardous energy sources that
supply power to a piece of equipment, machinery or system.
This includes Forklifts/Pallet Movers etc.

Management are responsible for ensuring that all the necessary measures are in place and that
all work is carried out according to this procedure

Supervisors/Team Leaders are responsible for ensuring that LOTO devices are properly
maintained and correctly used by authorised persons

Authorised Persons are responsible for correct implementation of LOTO procedures

Employees/Contractors are responsible for following LOTO procedures and do not conduct any
LOTO activities unless trained and authorised to do so.

If any equipment is faulty and not safe to operate please advise a supervisor or manager, ensure a
safety tag or isolation device is a applied and the machinery is not used until it is repaired, only
then can the tag be removed by a qualified person.
Hazardous Chemicals
We do not use any Hazardous Chemicals on site.

All chemicals including cleaning chemicals should be:


• Labelled correctly
• Disposed of correctly
• Stored properly
• Ensure eyewash facilities are available and working
• Ensure spill kits are available
Tools & Equipment
• Equipment Operators are required to be trained, qualified or Tools we use every day include:
licensed c Nail Gun
• Only use tools, equipment and machines for the job which they c Hammer and nails
were designed for
c Bolt Cutters
• Ensure they are tested and tagged (if applicable) at prescribed
c Safety Knives
intervals and maintained in good working condition
c Pallet Buster
• Only operate tools, equipment and machines if their guards and
safety devices are fitted and operative
• Ensure that if damage or defects are present, the tool is not
used, and repaired or immediately replaced
• Report the fault to a Supervisor/Manager and input into
DoneSafe
Environment - Stormwater

Stormwater drains from the site flow directly into the


local waterways which feed the local streams and rivers.
Substances other than stormwater are not to enter the
stormwater drains.
Where there is a spillage that causes a substance to
enter the stormwater drain inform your Supervisor or
Site Contact immediately.
Environment - Spills

Spill Kits are located throughout the Site.


If a spill, of any size, occurs stop the source of the spill (if possible
and safe to do so), contain the spill using the spill kits and inform
your Supervisor, Site Contact or Security Personnel
The Environment Manager will make contact with the applicable
authorities where required.
Environment - Waste Systems
Ensure any waste material is placed into the appropriate bin.
Your Supervisor or Site Contact can provide further guidance and where bins
are located.
Environment – Hot Weather
During the warmer months our warehouse may reach uncomfortable temperatures.
Everyone tolerates heat at various degrees for that reason we need to ensure we monitor heat stress by watching out
for our team mates, keeping hydrated, taking time out to cool down in a comfortable area and knowing the signs of heat
stress.
Environment – General Housekeeping

5S
Good housekeeping practices are a key fundamental for
any business.
Cleaning your respective work areas as you go, prevents

slips, trips and falls, eliminates fire hazards and controls
Take out necessary items and dispose.

2. Systematise/Set In Order
Arrange necessary items in good order for use.
3. Shine/Sweep
Clean your workplace completely.

Maintain high standard of housekeeping

Do things simultaneously without being told or ordered
Confined Space
We have confined spaces throughout the site, these areas are not to
accessed by anyone other than authorised trained personnel
requiring permit entry.
Access into these areas is only by qualified personnel and organised
through Landlord.
Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), Confined Space permits
need to be provided and signed off.
Working at Heights / accessing areas at Heights
Working at heights is generally described as work that exposes a person to the risk of a fall from one
level to another and is reasonably likely to cause injury.
• This can include work on roofs, scaffolding, suspended ceilings, ladders and elevated work
platforms.
• Persons performing work at heights must be trained in the safety equipment and systems
required for the task and have the appropriate licences and qualifications.
• Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), Work at heights permits need to be provided and signed
off.
• All staff working at heights that wear harnesses must ensure the harness is not damaged before
use.
