PROGRAM PROPOSAL FOR INTRAMURALS

I. Program Description

Title: INTRAMURALS 2023

Date: November 25-26, 2023 (whole day Saturday & half day Sunday)
Venue: San Vicente Elementary School Covered Court
Participants: ALL THE PUPILS IN SAN VICENTE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

II. Rationale:

Pursuant to Republic Act No. 10588, Section 2, which provides that it is the policy of the
State to promote physical education and encourages sports program, league competitions and
amateur sports, including training for international competitions, to foster self-discipline,
teamwork, and excellence for the development of healthy and alert citizenry, San Vicente
Elementary School will conduct its Intramurals on November 25- 26, 2023.

After the pandemic, it is important to reconnect, rebuild, and recover. This event is an
opportunity for students to come together, have fun, and support each other in a safe and
healthy environment. Pupils, different stakeholders from Barangay San Vicente and the
parents as well are expected to have fun and support the Intramurals with excitement and
energy as they support in any means.

Intramurals are an opportunity for the pupils to compete against their classmates in various
sports. It is open to all the SVES pupils. The purpose of the intramural program is to provide
fun, safe and structured play experiences that promote the physical, mental and social
development of every child. Our aim is to provide opportunities for every individual,
regardless of ability, to participate in a sport activity that will develop skill and interest in a
friendly, recreation-centered environment. All intramural programs are subject to change
without notice due to student and advisor’s availability.

Background:

Intramurals contribute to the goals of the Department of Education (which aligns with the K-
12 School Effectiveness Framework) by fostering school spirit and sense of belonging for all
the learners. They are a great way to increase learner engagement by providing them with
opportunities to interact socially with their peers, which fosters a sense of belongingness,
positive, mental health, and greater engagement in both academic and non-academic activities.
Participation in intramurals helps learners further develop their social skills, cooperation,
teamwork, physical literacy, and overall health. Intramurals involve learners in school
decision making processes and encourage them to be school leaders who share the
responsibility of planning, organizing, and implementing physical activity opportunities for
others. Most importantly, intramurals provide much needed opportunities for learners who do
not have opportunity to participate in organized sport or physical activities within the school
or community or free-for-service activities in the community.
III. Objectives:
 To provide opportunities for individual development through various activities, increase
social contacts, growth of lasting friendships and recreation for individuals regardless of
their skill ability.
 The program is designed in a manner that promotes safety, fairness, and equal
opportunity for all to participate.
 We are dedicated to participant satisfaction, while accommodating a wide range of
interests and skill levels.

IV. Source of funds/ other agencies involve: SCHOOL FUNDS OFFICERS/ STAKEHOLDERS
 Material needed and cost:
 Food for the officiating officials, table of officials and other committees (including
snacks)
 Materials to be used during Intramurals (Coupon bond, Marker, medals, Certificates,
ETC.)
