Module 2 - Where to Compete: Home Base Advantages and Foreign Location Choices
The second module explores the dynamics of home and foreign location choices in the context of global
business strategy. Multiple real-world examples are used to demonstrate the power of product clusters and
the emergence of engineered clusters in locations such as Brazil and the United Arab Emirates. This
module also introduces the comprehensive CAGE framework to understand cultural, administrative,
geographic and economic distances and overcome the liability of foreignness.
Module 3 - Why, How and When: Foreign Direct Investment Motives, Entry Modes
and Sequence of Internationalisation
This module covers the intricate aspects of foreign direct investment, entry modes and internationalisation.

Professor Monteiro’s research focuses on global open innovation and the role of boundary spanners. It appears
in top journals including Organization Science, Strategic Management Journal, Research Policy and Journal of
International Business Studies. Professor Monteiro is the recipient of distinguished awards from the Academy of
Management, the Academy of International Business and the Strategic Management Society. He is also the
author of several award-winning case studies and the co-author of a recent book, Global Strategic Management,
