METHOD STATEMENT OF POWER FLOATING

1. Concrete Supply

Grade of Concrete : Minimum C30

Slump Test : a) 100 +/- 25mm for direct discharge
b) 125 +/- 25mm for pumped concrete
Water Cement Ratio : 0.45 < w/c < 0.50
(The proposed Concrete Mix Design above to be reviewed and approve by Consultant Engineer)

2. Pour Schedule

The floor plan will then be sub-divided into manageable pour size (500 - 600m² per pour;
preferable in square size to minimize crack line). Adjacent panels should have minimum 24
hours of difference in casting.

3. Side Formwork

Once the reinforcement had been laid, the side formwork will be set up based on the joint layout
plan using steel flat bar, hybrid and timber.

4. Placing of Concrete

Established volume of concrete required for the day’s pour and schedule the arrival of each truck
ideally between 15 to 25 minutes. Discontinuity in the concrete supply may lead to cold joint.

Slump test shall be carried out for every truck of concrete delivered. Should the slump does not
meet the specification the concrete is subjected to rejection. Concrete that passes the slump test
that is either directly discharged or pumped will be placed sequentially.

As the concrete is progressively laid, it has to be compacted using poker vibrators. The vibrator
should not remain in one position for more than 15 seconds.

5. Screed to Level

Once the concrete has been placed, the screeding process of the slab will begin using an
appropriate and specified screeding machine to level the concrete and it will be carried out
repetitively until the panel has been completely laid by concrete. During the screeding process,
spot level checks is to be carried out using precise dumpy level, to ensure that the level is within
the specified tolerance. The floor then will be let to set for about 4 (four) to 5 (five) hours
depending on the setting time of the concrete.

6. Dry Shake Hardener

On initial concrete setting, broadcast 4.0kg/m² of natural coloured floor hardener onto concrete
in 2 applications. Broadcast 2/3 of floor hardener and well-pan floated into the concrete. Final
1/3 of floor hardener to be applied subsequently without delay to avoid any delamination.
METHOD STATEMENT OF POWER FLOATING

7. Power Trowelling

i. Broadcast the floor hardener

ii. Using a ride on machine equipped with pizza pans, float the surface until a thick paste is
achieved followed by a second ride on machine fitted with combination blades.
iii. Lastly, float the surface with finishing blades.
iv. Walk behind (lighter) machine shall be used on the first floor to densify the concrete
surface.

8. Stripping of Formwork

The formwork can be stripped of once the concrete has settled the next morning. Care to be
taken to prevent chipping off edges of slab.
