Content Standard The learners demonstrate understanding of the relationship
among the locations of volcanoes, earthquake, epicenters
and mountain ranges.
Performance Standards The learners should be able to:
1. Demonstrate ways to ensure disaster preparedness during
earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanic eruptions.
2. Suggest ways by which he/she ca contribute to
government efforts in reducing damage due to
earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions.
Learning Competencies 1. Describe and relate the distribution of active volcanoes,
earthquake epicenters, and major mountain belts to Plate
Tectonic Theory.
2. Describe the different types of plate boundaries.
3. Explain the different processes that occur along the plate
boundaries.

C. Activity Group activity: Brainstorming and making of Emergency Kit
Plan and prepare an Emergency Kit for the whole family.
Decide what items should be in your emergency kit.
The group may opt to choose to make a video advertisement
about what to include in the emergency kit, or make an actual
or real emergency kit.
Provide the students with guide. (see attachment)
A scoring rubric will be used in assessing your kit. (see
attachment)

E. Abstraction Emphasize the following concepts:
1. Having an emergency kit is an important step to prepare
and protect your household from unforeseen events such
as floods, earthquakes, tsunamis, storm surge, etc.
2. An emergency kit is essential for short term survival
providing vital items for you, your family and your
household. It is a good idea to always keep your kit in a
handy place known to everyone in the household.
3. When you prepare your emergency kit, include items you
will require during several days of disruption to supplies
such as power, water and gas.
4. Your kit should be stored in a waterproof storage
container, kept in an accessible place and checked and
resupplied every of months.
F. Application Ask the students to submit a list of the items that are available
at home that can be included in the emergency kit.
G. Practical State the following concepts to the students:

and to manage life-threatening conditions.)

(Ans. Having an emergency kit is an important step to
