2. Dengan sukacitanya dimaklumkan bahawa untuk keempat kalinya, Bugcrusher Junior Hackathon
(pertandingan koding secara berpasukan) akan diadakan oleh kami dari Realfun Academy Sdn. Bhd.
bekerjasama dengan Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) pada tahun 2023.
3. Oleh itu, kami ingin menghulurkan jemputan kepada sekolah rendah (darjah 4-6) dan menengah
(tingkat 1-3) di seluruh negara untuk menyertai pertandingan koding tersebut. Berikut adalah butiran
jadual yang telah ditetapkan:
Tempoh Pertandingan (termasuk • 2 Mei 2023 sehingga 26 Julai 2023 (Tarikh akan
bengkel-bengkel) dikemukakan kemudian)
4. Kami memohon kerjasama PPD untuk menjemput sekolah rendah dan menengah untuk
menyertai pertandingan ini. Setiap pasukan perlu terdiri daripada empat peserta, iaitu tiga murid dan satu
guru. Satu sekolah dibenarkan menyertai sehingga lima pasukan. Setiap pasukan mesti terdiri daripada
murid dan guru yang tidak terlibat dalam pasukan lain (contohnya, jika dua pasukan akan menyertai, maka
6 murid dan 2 guru harus berbeza)
5. Setiap pasukan perlu mempunyai sekurang-kurangnya seorang peserta yang berpengalaman
dalam platform SCRATCH coding. Bagi pasukan sekolah menengah, mereka boleh memilih HTML/CSS
atau platform SCRATCH coding. Butiran lanjut akan dijelaskan semasa sesi penerangan yang akan
diadakan pada 30 Mac 2023. Sila berdaftar untuk mendapati pautan Zoom link.
6. Hadiah jumla bernilai RM23,000 akan diberikan kepada pemenang yang mencapai kedudukan
terbaik dalam pertandingan ini. Selepas tamat program, kami akan mengemukakan permohonan bagi
tujuan pengiktirafan program sebagai markah kokurikulum kebangsaan.

OBJECTIVE
To strengthen critical thinking, creativity, communication and collaboration among the pre-teens and teens
To develop coding knowledge among the students, and teachers to become maker of the future.
Improve sub-urban / rural students and teachers in problem solving skills through bug-solving and team work
SUMMARY
Students and teacher work together to solve coding bugs (Scratch or HTML/CSS), enhance the program/web to deliver the key
message better, and finally pitch for their solution all within 3 hours time limit
Targetting students age 10-12(junior), and 13-15(senior). Mix of virtual and physical events
2023 will be the 4th year of Bugcrusher Junior Hackathon and will be the first year to go national level

DETAILS:
Junior category (10-12) will be competing using Scratch
Senior category (13-15) will be competing using HTML/CSS or Scratch (Advance)
Each team must consist of 3 students and 1 teacher* (can be from mix schools)
Each team will need to participate in preparation workshops to prepare for the hackathon. Attending live is highly
recommended but if there's a clash with school matters, recordings will be provided.
Challenge will split into 3 stages: Zone elimination (virtual); semi final (virtual) ; final (physical)
Each team will only receive its respective mission pack on the hackathon day. Once received, the team will have 3 hours to
solve all the bugs, enhance the program, and create a presentation video on how they de-bug and why do they think their
enhancement brings more value to the objective of the program
English and Bahasa Malaysia is allowed for presentation.
No fees required to participate in Bugcrusher (except for private school, RM50 per team)
Maximum number of teams per school is 5 teams.
1 teacher cannot lead multiple teams. 1 team 1 teacher only.

BRIEFING SESSION
For those who are new to Bugcrusher, it is recommended to join the "sesi penerangan" to understand more about the
format of the competition.

STAGE 1 - ELIMINATION:
Workshops will be organised get participants into "problem solver" mode. Learning the steps to do debugging, and submit
for scores.
Some locations will be conducted (in Sarawak only) physically while everyone else will will be online
Total 35 junior teams and 24 senior teams will proceed to Semi Final

STAGE 2 - SEMIFINAL:
Workshops will review semi-finalist performance from stage 1 and target improvement area so that all teams can learn
from each other. Similarly, some district (in Sarawak only) will be conducted physically while the rest will be online

STAGE 3 - FINAL & CLOSING CEREMONY:
Tentative schedule for final is on 26-July
Final workshop (only online) will be organised to provide additional feedback and improvement areas for all teams.
It will be organised as physical event in Sarawak. All finalist will be required to travel to the location to participate in the final.
Team will need to pitch live infront of judges, and judges are allowed to ask questions.
Winning teams will be reveal right after all live pitching are done

ONLINE WORKSHOPS
All participants will be joining the workshops online.
4 sessions for stage 1, 2 sessions for stage 2
During stage 1 (elimination), the workshop objective is to guide the teams on debugging steps (critical thinking),
brainstorming ideas (creativity), and communication. Duration for stage 1 workshop is 2 days (or 4 afternoons)
During stage 2 (semi final), the objective is to get the team to reflect on areas of improvement, and highlight strength from
other teams that they can learn from.
Teams will also be observed by the facilitator on their collaboration among the team members and provide feedback on
how the team can work together better
Each team will be provided feedback from judges and reflection (30 mins) to improve and prepare for their final
