Ocean energy source – ocean thermal

 How does using the ocean as an energy resource interact in both positive and negative
ways within each of Earth's spheres? Explain in detail the uses and importance of the
ocean as an energy resource. –

Pros:
They don’t burn fuel to generate electricity.
They don’t release almost any sulfur compounds + they release less carbon dioxide
than fossil fuels power plants of similar size.
They “recycle“ because they inject back the steam and water they use.

Cons:
Initial investment is very high.
It can harm marine life.
Landlocked nations have some kind of disadvantage.

 Does using the ocean as an energy resource benefit society?

Yes it does. Because it’s a renewable energy source and it doesn’t damage the
environment if used correctly.

 What, if anything, needs to be done, if anything, to protect and preserve the ocean if it
is used as an energy resource?
We would need to introduce some sort of rules that ban using checmicals and other
harmful things in process of bulding the ocean thermal power plant.
