Classroom Management Plan

Zalie Skolyak

Among the many important challenges that teachers face, classroom management and

achieving classroom goals is one of the most important. While it may be easy to simply build

relationships with students, doing this in the classroom is a whole different dynamic. Throughout

my classroom and teaching experience, I plan to set rules, expectations, and boundaries, build

meaningful relationships, and connect with partners and guardians.

I plan to set rules, expectations, and boundaries for my students but also myself. A

healthy teacher is an effective teacher. Therefore, I plan to reduce my own stress and anxiety as

well so that I am equipped to make decisions fast, and handle my classroom properly. The

boundaries in my classroom will not be set to control student behavior. Rather, it will be used to

provide the structure that is necessary for all classrooms. Due to this, students will be able to

focus on learning and other productive activities. Additionally, it will allow me to detect early

signs of disruptive behavior and any other issues that may arise.

I also plan to build meaningful relationships with each student that enters my classroom.

Rapport is an essential component of the student-teacher relationship. My students will know

that I intend to listen to their problems and will communicate with them to find a solution that

best fits all parties’ needs. Developing healthy relationships is also critical for allowing the

students to thrive. I plan to develop a sense of flexibility and consistency so that the students are

comfortable approaching me but also know that I am firm.

Finally, I plan to connect with parents and guardians to ensure that each of my students

has consistent learning opportunities. Students will spend half of their time with me and the other
half with their parents/guardians at home. Therefore, it is important to establish those

relationships as it will push the students to be more driven to learn and succeed.
