PATTERN:
See diagram A.1. The diagram shows all rows in the pattern from the right side
-------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------
SHAWL:
Cast on 5 stitches with circular needle size 4 MM = US 6 and DROPS Sky or DROPS Daisy.
Work and increase as shown in diagram A.1 (first row = right side).
When the diagram is finished, work garter stitch and stockinette stitch as before and
continue to increase after the first 2 stitches at the beginning of every 6th row. There are 2
stockinette stitches on each side of the piece and more and more garter stitches in the
middle. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE!
When the piece measures 56 cm = 22" continue for a further 4 cm = 1 1/2" but without
further increases.
Work garter stitch and stockinette stitch as before but now decrease 2 stitches on the same
side as you previously increased, i.e. work from the right side as follows:
Work 2 stitches in stockinette stitch, slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped
stitch over the knitted stitch. Work as before to the end of the row.
Repeat this decrease after the first 2 stitches at the beginning of every 6th row; you have 2
stockinette stitches on each side of the piece but fewer and fewer garter stitches in the
middle.
Work until there are 5 stitches left. Work 2 rows and bind off on the next row. The piece
measures approx. 116 cm = 45 3/4".
Diagram explanations
= knit from right side, purl from wrong side
= knit from right side, knit from wrong side
= between 2 stitches make 1 yarn over, which is knitted twisted on the next row – no
hole
