Newton S Second Law of Motion
Newton S Second Law of Motion
Calculating force using different units (Remember 1000g = 1kg! If your mass is in grams you must divide the mass by
1000 to get your mass in kg)
1) Mass = 1500g, acceleration = 7.5 m/s2 6) Acceleration = 7 m/s2, mass = 48895 g
2
2) Acceleration = 2.5 m/s , mass = 500 g 7) Mass = 98 g, acceleration = 20 m/s2
3) Mass = 40,000 g, acceleration = 63 m/s2 8) Acceleration = 4 m/s2, mass = 7651 g
2
4) Acceleration = 12 m/s , mass = 25 g 9) Mass = 4951 g, acceleration = 50 m/s2
5) Mass = 360,000 g, acceleration = 10 m/s2 10) Acceleration = 8 m/s2, mass = 1000 g
Using questions with words in them. You will need to use conversion of units and rearrangement of the formula
1) An object with a mass of 2 kg accelerates 2 m/s2 when an unknown force is applied to it. What is the force?
What is the unit of force?
2) An object with a mass of 1500 g accelerates 10 m/s2 when an unknown force is applied to it. What is the
force? What is the unit of force?
3) An object accelerates 3 m/s2 when a force of 6 N is applied to it. What is the mass of the object? What is the
unit of mass?
4) An object accelerates 2 m/s2 when a force of 4 Newton’s is applied to it. What is the mass of the object? What
is the unit of mass?
5) An object with a mass of 2300 g has a force of 6.2 N applied to it. What is the resulting acceleration of the
object? What is the unit of acceleration?
6) An object with a mass of 3.2 kg has a force of 7.3 N applied to it. What is the acceleration of the object? What
is the unit of acceleration?
