To Whom It May Concern:

I’m delighted to write this letter of recommendation for Sydney Carskadon. Sydney has been my student for
the past four years and it’s been a pleasure to be her school counselor. Sydney is the type of student who has
made the most of her high school experience by challenging herself academically and participating in athletics
and other meaningful activities. She is hardworking, friendly, and motivated.

Academically, Sydney has challenged herself with a demanding college preparatory schedule including eight
Advanced Placement courses, three years of Spanish, and a variety of courses that reflect her personal interests.
A thoughtful student who aspires to study nursing, Sydney has selected appropriate courses such as AP
Statistics, AP Psychology and Anatomy and Physiology. She has also sought job shadow opportunities outside
of the school day to support her learning. From these experiences, she has familiarized herself with important
nursing skills and responsibilities. A true helper, she has also been a service leader in our Leadership/ASB
program. It is evident that Sydney understands that the knowledge and habits acquired in high school will serve
as a solid foundation for her future.

In addition to her academic achievement, Sydney has been actively involved in several activities. Her most
enduring contributions have been to our varsity lacrosse program, but she has also participated in the National
Honor Society, Young Life, and maintained a part-time job at Jamba Juice. As an athlete, Sydney is highly
respected by her coaches and peers alike as a great teammate who is encouraging, leads by example, and loves
playing the game. Sydney has managed all of her extracurricular activities with ease and in her free time, she
enjoys hiking and writing letters to her grandmother each week.

Most importantly, I appreciate Sydney for her caring, genuine, and adventurous personality. When she
graduates, I will remember a young lady who made me smile, who loved baking, and who always saw the best
in people and in situations. I believe that these qualities in conjunction with her academic skills and personal
talents will serve her well as she continues in higher education and life.

Sydney is an excellent candidate for admission and I sincerely recommend her. Please do not hesitate to contact
me with any questions.

My Best,

Alyson Leatherman, M.Ed.
