Subject: Discovering who Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse are

 Students will learn about the life of Walt Disney and the creation of Mickey Mouse
 Students will understand the importance of creativity, imagination, and perseverance.

Resources/Materials List:
 Pictures and short videos of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse
 Large Sheets of Paper
 Crayons, Markers, and colored pencils
 Storybooks about Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse
 Chart Paper and markers
 Mickey Mouse coloring sheets

Procedure:
- Tell students that today they will be learning about the history of Walt Disney and
Mickey Mouse; Begin by asking students if they know who Walt Disney and Mickey
Mouse are. Show pictures of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse and briefly explain their
significance. Discuss the concept off creativity and imagination with the students.
1. Read a “Who was Walt Disney”; Use age-appropriate language and engage the
students in a conversation about the key events in Walt Disney’s life.
- Create a timeline on the chart paper to illustrate significant milestones in Walt
Disney’s life.

2. Introduce the story of Mickey Mouse’s creation; Show pictures and videos of the first
Mickey Mouse cartoon “steamboat Willie.”
- Discuss how Mickey Mouse became a symbol of joy and entertainment for people
around the world.
- Provide coloring sheets of Mickey Mouse for students to color; While coloring
encourage children to talk about what they know about Mickey Mouse

3. Give each student a large sheet of paper and art supplies.


- Guide them in drawing their own version of Mickey Mouse; Emphasize creativity and
remind them that there’s no right or wrong way to draw.
- After drawing ask the students to share their Mickey Mouse drawing with their friends

4. Gather students and have a brief discussion about what they’ve learned.
- Reinforce the importance of imagination, creativity and perseverance using Walt
Disney’s story as an example.
- Display the students Mickey Mouse drawings around the classroom for everyone to
see!

 Provide varying levels of support based on individual needs; Offer different reading
material that cater to different reading levels.
 Organize small group activities where students can work together based on their
performance levels.
 Use a variety of assessment methods that cater to different learning styles.
