1.4 Plant and Equipment

equipment shall be installed such as blinkers, cones, signage and with adequate
traffic management.
1.6.1.2 Survey and Setting Out
a) The underground ducting route or alignment shall be pegged out in accordance
with the approved drawing issued.
b) Confirmed alignment drawings have been approved. Detection and piloting
works will be carried out to ensure that there are no other services obstructed
at the confirmed alignment stated in the confirmed drawings.
e) For multiple circuits laid in a common trench, 50mm spacing shall be allowed
between the ducts. This is to create space between ducts for ducts to be
arranged and function smoothly.
f) Where layers of ducts to be laid over another in the same trench, form
structure and rebar is necessary to assemble and position the ducts. The ducts
shall break joint by approximately half the duct length in alternate lines,
horizontally and vertically.
g) For HDPE ducts, socket shall be used for the process of jointing. The edges of
ducts shall be cleaned. The socket as well as the duct ends shall be wiped clean
before inserting the socket for the two ducts to be joined.
h) Pipes shall be cut when necessary at right angle to the bore only. The inside
edges shall be filed and trimmed so that they will not cause damages to the
cables.
i) The duct shall be sealed to prevent the entry of water or vermin.
g) Approximately 50mm spacing between above and bottom layer of ducts shall
be provided.
h) Repeat the above process for the subsequent layer of ducts.
1.6.1.6 Backfilling of Trenches
a) After concrete encasement of duct is done, backfill the excavated materials to
specified levels.
b) Care shall be taken such that backfilling operation does not disturb the
completed works.
c) The trench shall be backfilled with the excavated materials in 150mm layers in
the reverse order to which they were excavated. The remaining 300mm shall
be backfilled with good quality earth and rammed. Mechanical rammer shall be
used.

1.6.1.7 Despite the protection stated in the IFC drawing indication, the needs of service
protection needed be aware for all area effected during the work take in
commence. Most of the service protection is constructed under the provisional
area such as future road area, protection for area that too close to the pier and
etc. Generally the protection for the services and type of mechanism will be
varied but generally the services will be protect as per detail below:
in a particular activity and the control measures implemented shall be briefed to the
workers during safety induction, tool box talk and JSA Briefing.
3.1.5 Housekeeping
Housekeeping is an essential part of safety for the daily routine. Housekeeping
would include the following items:
i. Maintain the access/egress to all working area.
ii. Store and stack all construction materials in safe and orderly manner.
iii. No littering around the site and provide sufficient waste bin.
