Unit Three Journal Assignment

Question one: Of the different kinds of ecosystem services, you learned about, discuss two
that are important in your local area, village, forests and/or nation.

From the given ecosystem services, I selected for the following two services that have
importance in my local area; these are protect stream and river channels and coastal
shores from erosion and moderate weather extremes and their impacts. There a naturally
reserved forest in my local area we so called Amela Grand Forest that have long history and
well-known forest in our village for its own age, resource availability and biodiversity of
different animals and plan species. The forest is a wall for our village both natural made
disasters and human made disasters for long age. The forest protects us from bad weather
conditions and climate changes that came from neighboring regions specially in the winter
season since dusts and unconditional winds came from low land areas. In addition to the
weather impact the forest protect our enviroment from erosion; since our enviroment is
characterized with mountain feature and forest is found at the top of mountain, during the
summer season, rain is high and high volume of erosion is causing depleting of soils and
other natural resources. In addition to erosion of soils, the forest protects our villages main
river from pollution and unwanted components that pollute the river.

you foresee with their loss?

From week to week, I am gaining knowledges and awareness regarding enviroment which I
am living and the glob too. Specific to week three it was interesting and remarkable week
for me and I got a lot regarding ecosystem, benefit of ecosystem, ecosystem service etc.
