Mr. Mahon Conall
is a Programme Executive in the Heat &
Bioenergy team in SEAI having contributed to
the recently released National Heat Study.
Conall specialises in Sustainability and Life
Cycle Assessment for sustainable heating
options. He has previously worked in Energy Efficiency quality
inspections and published research on District Heating in
Ireland.
Mr. Shane Malone
has extensive experience in the design,
implementation and administration of
programmes and schemes in the energy sector,
as well as a wide range of experience in supply
chain management, regulatory compliance, and
business advisory services. He is a Chartered Engineer and a
Fellow of Engineers Ireland. He is the project manager for the
Biofuels Obligation Scheme (BOS) of Ireland.
Prof. Constantinos
Theodoropoulos
is Professor of Chemical and Biochemical
Systems Engineering at the University of
Manchester. He sustains a world-leading
group in the interdisciplinary area of industrial
biotechnology and multi-scale process dynamics of biochemical
systems, integrating advanced detailed computational
modelling, optimisation, experimental design and control along
with innovative experiments at a range of scales for process and
product design.
Dr. Jonathan L. Wagner
is Senior Lecturer in Chemical Engineering at
Loughborough University. His research
focuses on the production of sustainable
chemicals and fuels from biomass and
wastes, by integrating biological,
themochemical and catalytic processes to identify and develop
optimal conversion pathways. Since 2018, he has secured and
delivered multiple project grants from Royal Society and
Supergen Bioenergy Hub, and is programme lead for the £4.3M
UKRI Interdisciplinary Centre for Circular Chemical Economy
(CircularChem), involving 7 UK universities and 20+ industrial
partners.
Dr. Hugo Pereira
holds a PhD in Marine Biotechnology from
the University of Algarve. He is currently the
innovation manager of the GreenCoLAB-
Green Ocean Technologies and Products
Collaborative Laboratory. Hugo has 48
publications in peer-reviewed journals, 4 book chapters and
performed 7 oral communications in international conferences.
Prof. Raúl Muñoz
holds a PhD Degree in Environmental
Biotechnology from Lund University (2005).
His main fields of expertise are biological
gas treatment, biogas upgrading, bioplastic
valorization and wastewater treatment in
algal-bacterial photobioreactors. Over the last 10 years, Raúl
has published more than 180 ISI papers (H index = 56), 39 book
chapters, 153 international conference proceedings (99 oral
platforms + 54 posters) + 27 Invited keynotes/Plenary Lectures
and supervised 19 PhD theses and 22 Master theses.
Prof. Zhiyou Wen
His research has focused on bioprocessing
engineering, green and sustainable food, fuel
and biomaterials processing technologies. As
Center Director his priority is to enhance the
Center visibility and leverage staff expertise
and services available for industry and faculty aiding in
conducting research and outreach programming in food, feed,
and biorenewables. Zhiyou is co-founder of Gross-Wen
Technologies Inc. an Iowa-based company that uses algae to
mitigate water pollution while delivering high-value products,
including biofuels, food, feed, and fertilizer.
Dr. Yuansheng Hu
is postdoctoral researcher at Civil Engineering,
NUI Galway. His main research areas are
constructed wetlands, emerging
environmental biotechnology, and microalgae
biotechnology, for wastewater treatment,
bioenergy production and resource recovery.
Dr. Shasha Qi
is postdoctoral researcher at Civil Engineering,
NUI Galway. Her research focuses on biofuel
and resource recovery from microalgae and
iron scrap/activated carbon micro-electrolysis
for nitrate and phosphorus removal. She has
published 5 peer-reviewed papers in Journal of Cleaner
Production, Science of the Total Environment and Chemosphere.
