1. Foundations Assessment

ACE Consulting Engineers (Moharram-Bakhoum)

1. Findings
a. It was found that the received foundations design didn’t consider the load of the
periphery walls of the building as well as the internal walls of the rest rooms which
are supported on the smell beams and accordingly the load will be transmitted to
the foundations. It shall be pointed out that these wall loads have a significant height
which is 5.15m and should not be neglected.
b. The provided flexure reinforcement for Tie beam (TB1) is less than the required
value based on the analytical model. Kindly check the attached figure.
c. The provided flexure reinforcement for some of the smell beams is less than the
required value based on the analytical model. Kindly check the attached figure.

2. Conclusion
a. After applying the previously mentioned loads the soil stresses have exceeded the
allowable net bearing capacity which is 100 KN/m2, and accordingly some
foundations need to be increased. Check the following figures and the marked up
drawing to review the recommended dimensions.
b. Additional beam types should be added as mentioned in the marked up drawings to
accommodate the required reinforcement values for the related beams.

2. Beams Assessment

ACE Consulting Engineers (Moharram-Bakhoum)

1. Findings
a. Due to the Analytical 3D ETABS Model it was found that
b. Incorrect shear stiffness modifiers were assigned for beams sections.

2. Conclusion
a. After designing the beams for flexure, it was found that some beams need some
additional flexural reinforcement. Kindly check the attached figure.

b. Some beams need additional shear reinforcement.

3. Columns Assessment

ACE Consulting Engineers (Moharram-Bakhoum)

1. Findings
a. It was found that P-delta analysis was not activated which accurately calculates the
columns additional moment while in the model the effective length factor (K) for
columns are all assigned manually by value of 1.30 where for come columns need to
be 1.50.
b. In the design preferences for the used code in design using the ETABS 3D model, it
was found that the safety utilization factor is set to 1.05 instead of 1.0.

2. Conclusion
a. Some Columns P-M-M ratios will exceed the allowable safety margin if P-Delta is
activated.

4. Slab Assessment

ACE Consulting Engineers (Moharram-Bakhoum)

1. Findings
a. It was found that The vibration calculations on the roof slab were still missing.
b. It was recognized that the slab contains a high rate of pre-stressing cables that are
resulted from adopting a squeezed thickness (22cm)

2. Conclusion
a. Total weight of pre-stressing steel extracted from the 2D Ram model is 8431
kilograms which will provide a rate equals to 26.70 Kg/m3, which is considered to be
a high rate for such slab.
