Subject : Calculation report for Heat exchanger.

Referring to the above – mentioned subject; Kindly Find our calculation Data as the
following: -

Customer data:
Water flow Rate: 4-5 GPM = 1 m3/hr.
Water temperature for Supply T1 = 80 °C
Water temperature for return T2 = 45 °C
Specific heat of water: C = 4.18 J/g/°C = 0.998 Kcal/Kg/°C
The heating system is a closed loop, so we assumed the mass of water is constant.
m= 1 m3 = 1000 L = 1000 kg. Based on the density of water ρ= 1000 kg/m3
To calculate the value of Heat capacity Q, we will use the following equation: -
Q = m•C•ΔT.
Q = 1000 (kg) * 0.998 (Kcal/Kg/°C) * (80-45) (°C).
Q = 34,930 Kcal within one hour according to water flow rate.
Q = 34,930 kcal/hr. = 40 Kw.
To calculate amount of steam required we will use the following equation:
Steam flow rate in (Kg/hr.) = Load (Kw) *3600 / hfg at operating pressure.
The heating load is 40 kw, and supplied with steam at 3.5 bar g (hfg = 2210kj/kg).
Steam flow rate in (Kg/hr.) = 40 *3600 / 2210 = 65 kg/hr.
Steam flow rate = 65 kg/hr.

Thanks & Best Regards
