MAINTENANCE TRACKER

DeVILS Project
Antonio Tuano
THE STAKEHOLDERS FOR THIS
PROJECT

• Electronics Maintenance Technicians

• Electronics Maintenance Supervisors
• Electronics Repair Shop Owners
RESEARCH CONDUCTED

• Customer Interviews
• Customer Feedback
• Best Features Research
CUSTOMER POV STATEMENT

• Lauren's POV (Electronics Technician):

• "LJ needs a solution that enables him to efficiently source and procure old and
deprecated electronic components, stay updated with the latest technological trends,
and collaborate effectively with colleagues on complex issues."

• Justin's POV (Electronics Technician Supervisor):

• "Justin requires a solution that empowers him to seamlessly track the shop’s project
progress, allocate technicians based on expertise and availability, and enable effective
communication with the team regarding new processes and standards."
PROBLEM STATEMENT

• "Electronics technician supervisors like Justin and electronics technicians like LJ

encounter obstacles in their daily work, including challenges in sourcing
obsolete components, staying updated with industry trends, managing
inventory, optimizing task allocation, and maintaining effective communication.
Existing solutions do not adequately address these specific requirements,
hindering their productivity and the overall efficiency of the electronics repair
shop."
LIST OF CRITERIA

• Aesthetics
• Customization
• Accessibility
• Ease-of-Use
• Processing Speed
LIST OF REQUIREMENTS

• Technician Profile
• Dashboard
• Inventory Tracking
• Knowledge Database
• Real-Time Communications
ANALYTICAL HIERARCHY PROCESS

Table 1: Analytical Hierarchy Process of Maintenance tracker

Based on table 1, processing speed [1] is the most concern when it comes to a
tracker.
DESIGN A

• The design using a mobile app work faster

as they are designed to function with the
phone’s inbuilt features. This design is also
very accessible to user because everybody
in the workplace has a phone. However,
mobile apps cannot be used until they are
downloaded on a mobile device

Figure 1. Design A (Mobile Application)

DESIGN B

• This design is the most accessible design.

You don’t have to install a web app on your
device to use it. It can be accessed easily
via a URL. The app can be access using any
devices, be it mobile phone, desktop
computers, laptop, etc., as long as they have
a working web browser.

Figure 2. Design B (Web Application)

DESIGN C

• This design is the most customizable one

because you are not limited in terms of
computing power. However, this design is
also the least accessible because you are
only able to access the system on the
desktop where it is installed.

DECISION-MAKING
MATRIX
Table 2: Decision-making Matrix of the Maintenance Tracker
Rating Scale Legend:
1. Does not meet criteria.
2. Barely meets criteria.
3. Almost meets criteria.
4. Meets Criteria
5. Exceeds Criteria

Based on the table on the left, mobile app

design is the highest scoring design.

KANBAN BOARD MAINTENANCE CARD

Figure 4. Maintenance Board Figure 5. Maintenance Card

HOW THE DESIGN IS USED

This maintenance board is planned to be in our supervisor's office so that he can

oversee the total progress of our shop. The board will be constructed with
slanted slots to be able to hold the cards in the middle and the structure would
be constructed with wood. The board will have card holders at the side that is
color coded which will contain maintenance cards. The color codes could be
priority depending on needs of our shop. The cards will be made with a sturdy
thick paper that will have a flap in the back so that it will attach to this board.
FINISHED OF THE DESIGN

• The future of this project is that we can hopefully combine integrate the
kanban board and the software i.e. add sensors that can tract the physical
cards then send update to the software in a centralized database.
• The design shall be finished with paint to make it look pleasing.
ESTIMATED COST

Prices are based on home depot’s current prices [2].

• 5 pcs of 2 in. x 4 in. x 8 ft. Prime Whitewood Stud: $ 3.58 x 5 = $ 17.9

• 4 pcs1 in. x 8 in. x Random Length S4S Oak Board: $ 8.98 x 4 = $ 35.92
• Zinc-Plated Wire Nail and Brad Assortment (276-Pack): $ 6.98
• Gorilla 4 fl. oz. Wood Glue/Epoxy: $ 3.97

Total estimated cost: $ 64.77

DESIGN VALUE

• Cost Savings: The design would be a lot cheaper compared to subscription-

based Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• User Satisfaction: Ultimately, the value of this solution is reflected in user
satisfaction. By providing an easy to use solution, the technicians can perform
their roles more effectively and with less stress, leading to higher job
satisfaction and retention rates.
• Unique: Combining a physical board with software is a unique solution to the
maintenance problem.
LESSONS LEARNED

• Conducting interviews and research is a must before embarking on this project

• Using customer feedback and interview, I was able to give weight on the
criteria for AHP.
• Using Tinkercad software is tricky at first, but it gets easier with more
experience.
• This project taught me the importance of user-centric design, where
understanding the end-users' needs is paramount in crafting effective solutions.
