Introduction to the Mass
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ.
The message given to us today is one of
watchfulness and to be ready to receive
the Lord. As we approach the end of the
Liturgical Year, the Church seems to
place these very mysteries before us.
We have to be alert to the signs God
gives us in our lives. When troubles
overtake us, we have to build our lives
on the practice of faith, hope and love.
We are called upon to keep the light
burning in our lives.
Introduction to the 1st Reading
The First Reading urges us to participate
in the wisdom and goodness of God.
Through the gift of free will, God gives
His human children control over their
acts.
Introduction to the 2nd Reading
In the Second Reading, St. Paul
explains what will occur when the Lord
returns in glory to collect His Church.
We must watch for Christ's return that
signals humanity's final victory over
death.
Prayer of the Faithful:
Priest: Our souls are thirsting for the
God to whom we belong and so let us
bring all of our needs and the needs of
the world in prayer.
Response: Lord hear our prayer
We pray for Pope Francis and the leaders
of the Church that will have the energy and
joy to continue walking in synodality and
that they be open the Wisdom and love
her and look for her.
We pray for leaders of nations that they
will welcome Wisdom in her many guises
so that the decisions that they make will
benefit all their people.
We pray for those who are grieving. May
they be encouraged by Paul’s words of
hope that no-one will be left out when the
Lord comes.
We pray for those who are thirsting for
God and feel the dryness and barrenness
of an absence of faith. May they be open
to Wisdom and find what they are looking
for in the way of faith.
We pray for our community gathered
here. May we always have our lamps lit
and be ready for when the Lord calls us.

Priest: God, you know these needs and all
the needs that sit deep in our hearts and
so we offer them with hope. We make this
prayer in the name of Jesus, our Lord, and
through the power of the Holy Spirit.
