Incubator temperature is regulated using either Incubator air or infant’s skin temperature as the controlling
In either mode of operation, the heater output is proportional to the amount of heat required to maintain the
desired temperature. In Air Control Mode, the air temperature can be maintained from 25ºC to 37ºC as
indicated by the Set Temperature Display setting. The Incubator air temperature is monitored by a sensor
located below deck and compared with the Set Temp Display setting. The information from this sensor is
supplied to the heater control circuitry. Actual Air Temperature displays by the Real Temperature Display. A
separate Temperature Sensor beside the Air Temperature Sensor serves as a backup to limit the Incubator
temperature to between 39ºC and 40ºC; at this temperature range, a separate Over Temperature alarm is
In Skin Temperature Control Mode, the infant’s skin temperature can be maintained as indicated by the
Set Temperature Display from 34.0 to 37.0ºC. A temperature sensing sensor is attached directly to the infant’s
skin; the information from the sensor is supplied to the heater control circuitry which proportions the heater
output to maintain the Baby’s Temperature at the Set Temperature setting. Actual baby skin temperature is
In Air Temperature Control Mode, Temperature Controller does not control the information transmitted by
Skin Sensor, but Auxiliary Temperature Display can show temperature information provided by Skin
Temperature Sensor. In Skin Temperature Control Mode, Temperature Controller does not control the
information transmitted by Air Sensor, but Auxiliary Temperature Display can show temperature information
If the sensor is disconnected from its receptacle during Skin Temperature Control Mode of operation, the
Skin Temperature Display blanks and a sensor alarm is activated. The Isolate Temperature Sensor within the
Temperature Controller remains in the circuit to limit the air temperature to less than 40.0ºC.
3.2.3 Alarms
Alarms are provided for Power Failure, Motor Alarm, Sensor Failure, Over Temperature Alarm and
Temperature Deviation Alarm from Set Temperature and the monitoring of system. Each time the unit is turned
on, the unit is automatically stepped through an alarm check sequence to verify proper alarm function.

R SERVICE MANUAL FOR Infantia NB1 INFANT INCUBATOR EDITION/REVISION A/0
Motor Alarm: A sensor located in the normal air path of the fan controls this alarm. If air flow stops due to
a fan failure, the temperature of the self-heated sensor rises causing the Air Flow alarm Indicator on the front
panel to light and produce a pulsating audible tone. Auxiliary Temperature Display shows “E07”. Low Motor
Speed Alarm activates if rotate speed is lower than 1000prm, due to external force. At this time, Auxiliary
Temperature Display shows “E08” and the Motor Alarm Indicator on the front panel lights. Motor Alarm can
also be activated if Air Flow of the Hood is blocked. Then, Auxiliary Temperature Display shows “E06”. This
alarm is not self-resetting and cannot be silenced and canceled until the alarm condition is corrected.
Over Temperature Alarm: A sensor within the Air Temperature Sensor or Skin Temperature Sensor
sounds this alarm if the Incubator temperature exceeds 39ºC. An Over Temperature alarm is indicated by a
flashing light and a continuous audible tone. The Auxiliary Temperature Display shows “E09” and the Heater is
switched off. Besides, Incubator is equipped with an Isolated Temperature Sensor independent of
Temperature Controller to be specialized in monitoring the Temperature inside Incubator. When the internal
temperature exceeds 40ºC, an Over Temperature alarm on the front panel is activated to light and then the
Auxiliary Temperature Display shows “E09”. The heater is switched off. This alarm is not self-resetting and
Power Failure: If primary power to the Incubator is interrupted for any reason, including a disconnected
power cord, an audible alarm is activated and the Power Fail Indicator lights. This alarm can be deactivated
only by restoring the primary power or setting the Incubator Power Switch off.
Auxiliary Temperature Display shows “E02”; signal “E03” is actuated by disconnection or damage of the
Isolated Temperature Sensor; “E04” indicates disconnection or damage of Air Flow Sensor. “E05” indicates
misplacement of Skin Temperature Sensor. Sensor Alarm indicators on the front panel flash when Sensor
Temperature Deviation Alarm: This alarm is actuated if skin or air temperature fluctuates from set
temperature as follows. Up deviation of the Set Temperature is indicated by a flashing light. The Auxiliary
Temperature Display shows “E10” for down deviation and “E11” for up deviation.
System Alarm: If the E2ROM failure occurs, the system alarming can be started up, meanwhile, all
alarming light are on, the auxiliary temperature window can indicate E12. At this time, please hand over the
The audible alarms except Power Failure Alarm can be silenced by depressing the Reset/Silent Key for 5
minutes. ----When silenced, the alarm indicator will remain on until the alarm condition is corrected if the alarm
condition is not corrected within 5 minutes, the audible alarm will be reactivated.
The front panel and rear panel of Incubator are both equipped with Hand Ports for two physicians’ operation.
The open part of Hand Ports can be adjusted to guarantee no loss of warmth in the Hood when different types
of medical device pipes are inserted in the Hood. IV Soft Port is designed in the way that pipes need not be
disconnected when infants are transferred inside or outside Incubator during transfusion.
