Materials
Stretch jersey, Flannel with crosswise stretch

Step 1 — Preparation

Paper cut for ANSI A (German DIN A4) prints:

This pattern is printed on 8.5″ × 11″ sheets of plain paper. Do not scale or center pages before printing. Wait
until all sheets are printed out before beginning to tape them together. Do not cut out pattern pieces yet—
Arrange the sheets on a large, hard, flat surface so that they fit together, matching up like numbers and letters
(i.e. 6A to 6A). To tape pattern together, fold under the margin of one piece (6A) and tape right against the
line of it’s matching number/letter (6A).

burda style magazine pattern do not have seam allowance included.


Seam and hem allowances to be added: Seams and edges 1.5 cm (5/8 in).

Step 2 — Cutting out

Jersey:
21â—¯front with integrated sleeve,
◒◯◯◯on a fold 1x
22â—¯back with integrated sleeve,

a) facing strip for neck edge, 49 â— 50 â— 51 â— 52 â— 53 cm (191/4 â— 193/4 â— 201/4 â—
201/2 ◠21 ins) long, 4 cm (15/8 ins) ¬wide (incl. allowances).

Flannel:
23â—¯pocket piece 2x
b) 2 skirt panels, 71 â— 73 â— 75 â— 77 â— 79 cm (28 â— 283/4 â— 293/4 â— 301/2 â—
311/4 ins) wide, 102 cm (401/4 ins) long.
Lining: pocket piece 2×.

Step 3 — Shoulders
Stitch shoulder seams and top sleeve seams as continuous seams. Stitch right side seam and sleeve seam.
Neaten seam allowances together and press onto back.

Step 4 — Neck edge


Fold facing strip for the neck edge lengthwise, right side out. Press. Pin folded strip to neck edge so that fold
edge of strip lies on garment piece, 1 cm (3/8 in) past seam line. Turn in ends of facing strip. Stitch along

marked neck edge. Trim seam allowances. Turn facing strip to inside and press edge. Work from right side to
topstitch neck edge with the twin needle.

Step 5 — Side
Stitch right side seam of skirt, leaving an opening, 15 cm (6 ins) long, for pocket, 2 cm (3/4 in) below upper
edge.

Step 6 — Inseam pocket (right)


Pin pocket pieces right sides together with seam allowances of pocket opening edges â— pocket lining
piece in front, pocket piece of outer fabric in back. Stitch pocket pieces in place, close to side seam and along
seam line on pocket opening edges. Press pocket pieces forward and stitch together

Step 7 — Inseam pocket (left)


Pin pocket lining piece right sides together with left side edge of front skirt panel. Stitch from upper edge to
lower seam mark on pocket piece, then below seam mark, stitch down at an angle, to edge of seam
allowance. Clip seam allowances at this corner of seam. Turn pocket piece to inside and press opening edge.
On inner side of skirt, lay pocket piece of outer fabric right sides together with attached pocket piece â—
allowance of this pocket piece extends at pocket opening edge. Stitch inside edges of pocket pieces together.

Step 8 — Ribbon
Stitch petersham ribbon to skirt panels â— one piece above marked hem line and 3 more pieces above this,
spaced 25 cm (10 ins) apart. Stitch petersham ribbon vertically along centre front of skirt panel.

Step 9 — Skirt
Gather upper edge of skirt to 69 â— 73 â— 77 â— 81 â— 85 cm (271/4 â— 283/4 â— 301/2 â—
32 â— 331/2 ins). Baste pocket pieces to inside upper edge of skirt. Baste upper skirt edge to a piece of
petersham ribbon so that ribbon extends 3 mm (1/8 in) wide at top. Lay a second piece of petersham ribbon
over it and stitch. Pin upper skirt edge to lower edge of bodice so that petersham ribbon lies on bodice, next
to seam line. Stitch along lower seam of petersham ribbon

Step 10 — Zip
For the zip opening, measure 20 cm (8 ins) below skirt joining seam and mark end of slit. Sew invisible zip
to left side edges, between slit marks. Leave top ends of zip tapes loose. Stitch left side seam from lower
edge to zip. Stitch left sleeve seam and side seam above zip as continuous seam.

Step 11 — Hem
Press hem allowance to inside and sew in place by hand. Press sleeve hem allowances to inside. Stitch from
right side, 4.5 cm (17/8 ins) wide, with the twin needle

Step 12 — Buttons
Sew buttons along centre front of skirt, spaced 8 cm (31/4 ins) apart.
