Motor Branch Circuit Conductors

The branch circuit conductors to a single motor must have an ampacity of not less than 125 percent of the motor’s full
load current (FLC) as listed in PEC table .

Ampacity
Ampacity is the maximum current that a conductor can carry continuously under the conditions of use without exceeding
its temperature rating. Current is measured in amperes or “amps.”

Motor Branch Circuit Protection
The size of protective device is equal to the percentage listed in the PEC table multiplied to the FLC of the motor listed
also in PEC tables .
