High security settings

By using the multi-function device’s security features, you can prohibit the use of a multi-function device that does
not pass through the authentication server. If this is not set, it can lead to unauthorized use of the multi-function
devices because it is possible to print and scan by connecting the computer to the multi-function devices directly,
and fax and copy by using the control panel. See the manual for the multi-function device for details on the
security features.

Applying a profile of security configuration

A profile of security configuration is necessary to apply security settings. The profile contains security levels. You
can customize this to suit your environment based on how close the level of the profile is to your security and
usage environment.
To acquire a profile of security configuration see the following Web site.
https://openplatform.epson.biz/download/op/

Overview of profile of security configuration

The profile of security configuration disables functions and communication of multi-function devices with the

Level 1 locks the control panel and prohibits setting changes by setting an administrator password. A profile is not
used.

Setting an administrator account and locking the panel

Set an administrator password so that the user cannot change settings for a device. This also prohibits operations
from the Epson device’s control panel, such as faxing and copying.
If you have already set an administrator password, skip steps 2 and 3.

1. On a computer, open your web browser, and then open the Web config by entering “http://<epson-device-IP>”.

2. Select Administrator Settings > Change Administrator Password, Administrator Settings > Change
Administrator Authentication Information, or Product Security tab > Change Administrator
Authentication Information according to the multi-function device.

3. Enter Current password, New password, and Confirm New Password, and then click OK.

4. Click System Settings > Control Panel or Device Management tab > Control Panel.

Test cases to check the restriction of printing that does not pass through the
Epson Print Admin server:
1. Install the drivers for the multi-function device to the client computer.

2. Print any document on the printer driver.

3. Navigate Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers, right-click on the multi-function
device icon.

4. Click See what’s printing.
