Humans are constantly seeking for meaning in almost everything and anything. We tend
to be curious about the world around us, and when we can, we apply our own interpretations to
what we discover, which is what we can clearly find ourselves doing when looking at the photos
of Gobekli Tepe. Looking at the image on page two, which depicts the areas that were excavated,
we can see that archaeologists were intentional with where they were deciding to mine. Clearly,
the areas that archeologists were excavating contained artifacts that would have us questioning
human civilization. As seen on pages four and six, T-shaped pillars were circularly placed in
multiple areas of the mining ground. Furthermore, we see that these pillars contain human-like
features. We are then left to question the position of these pillars and why these human-like
features are significant. Personally, I believe that the pillars were placed in a circular position
intentionally and found myself questioning why the pillars were placed that way. I also
questioned why there were two pillars facing each other in one of the formed circles. What I
interpreted from the images was that the pillars were placed that way because of social status
rules or religious reasons. Overall, the images prove that humans are naturally curious and when
the answers to our curiosity aren’t so black and white, we tend to make meaning of what we see
based on what we already know.

This is a good first attempt at analysis of some of the oldest images humans created. Focus on
writing about one specific point you want to make and support that point with detailed evidence
from the text (in this case the images).
