FADE IN:

INT. GYM LOCKER ROOM - EVENING

NIA IS IN THE LOCKER ROOM PUTTING AWAY EQUIPMENT AT THE END

OF BASKETBALL PRACTICE. SHE SHOOTS HER BEST FRIEND MARIAH A
TEXT THAT SHE IS ALMOST FINISHED AND HEADED TO HER ROOM.
As she is walking out of the locker room, a few of the boys
walk in. One of them being her crush Derrick.
DERRICK
Byeee Nia
NIA
B- Bye Derrick
Derrick and his teammates giggle.

INT. NIA'S DORM ROOM

Nia walks into her bedroom to already find her best friend
Mariah Laying on her bed
NIA
Riah?! How are you more comfortable
than me in MY own room? How’d you
get in here anyway?
MARIAH
Duh, what’s yours is mine.
The best friends laughs
MARIAH (CONT'D)
Besides... Your weirdo roommate is
the one that let me in.
NIA
You're so mean
MARIAH
No you're too nice. I know you see
the mean mug she gives both of us
every time we're in her presence.
Stop being so naive

NIA
You noticed that too? She is a
little odd huh... Oh well. I have
to live with the girl so imma have
to keep it cordial.
MARIAH
Imma pray for you bestie, because
me personally... I could never. But
anyways, how was practice?
NIA
Practice was practice...
MARIAH
Nia be real! You have the advantage
of watching some of the finest guys
on campus shirtless for 3 hours
everyday 5 days out of the week.
There’s nothing new? Not Even
Derrick?
NIA
No Mariah. Its always a hey here
and there. He hasn’t shoot his shot
with me and you know i’m not the
type to shoot mine so…
MARIAH
You claim to want him so bad.
Mariah mumbles under her breath

MARIAH (CONT'D)
I can't tell
NIA
Whatever.
B-roll of time passing. Nia and Mariah are still hanging out
in Nia's room. Mariah is scrolling on Tik Tok and comes
across a video. She shows Nia.
MARIAH
Hey, look at this
The video shows a tutorial of how to do a love spell on your
crush
NIA
Girl you know well that stuff is
not real

MARIAH
Alright now... When I pop up with a
boyfriend tomorrow, don't come
crying to me about how you're so
lonely
NIA
You believe in it for real?
MARIAH
Definitely. I've done a lot of
research on this stuff. I also have
an old friend who did it and they
they are still in love until this
day. It's basically just like
manifesting what you want.
NIA
Mmm. I'm good
MARIAH
Ok bestie. Well i'm about to head
out. I have to go get ready for me
and my future boyfriend's date
tomorrow.
They laugh
NIA
Ok bestie. I love you, text me when
you make it home.
MARIAH
I will. Love you.
CUT TO:

NIA'S ROOM- LATER

Nia is alone in her room when she decides to do the spell.
She writes Derrick's first and last name three times
vertically and three times horizontally. Folded it. Sprayed
her favorite scent on it and put it under her pillow and went
to sleep.
In the middle of the night she see's Derrick in her dreams.
Meaning the spell worked.
NEXT DAY - NIA'S ROOM- MORNING
Nia wakes up and checks her phone. She woke up to heart eyes
from Derrick under her latest instagram picture. She
instantly sends Mariah a screenshot of the comment.

She opens instagram and reply's to his comment with a kissing

face emoji. Next scene is Nia and Derrick texting and
eventually starting to hangout and go on dates.
Act 2
INT- Restaurant - Daytime
Mariah and Nia are catching up with each other over dinner.
MARIAH
I can't believe you and Derrick are
a thing now.I told you that spell
would work.
NIA
You couldn't wait to tell me I told
you so huh?
MARIAH
You know it! It's ok, you can thank
me later.
NIA
Thank you bestie because I truly am
happy. I never thought I would be I
would be talking to him everyday...
It almost seems too good to be
true.
MARIAH
Listen, don't think like that. You
deserve it, all you had to do was
believe it. Don't let your negative
thoughts distract you from your
blessings.
NIA
I guess you're right. It's just new
to me. Derrick just might be my
first boyfriend.
MARIAH
My girl finally got a man. I love
this for you.Lets get the bill so
we can get ready for this party
tonight.
Nia gets home and decides to grab the note from under her
pillow and throw it away. She can't find it anywhere. She
finds that strange but decides to just ready for the party.

INT. COLLEGE PARTY - NIGHT

Nia and Mariah walk into the party. They are standing in the
kitchen with drinks.

MARIAH
Dang girl slow down on the drinks,
you don't want your boo seeing you
out here sloppy drunk.
NIA
I'm just having fun. Besides,
Derrick said he's staying into
night. He's sore from practice.
MARIAH
Hm thats weird. I seen his homeboy
TJ. You usually never see one
without the other
NIA
Yeah... I don't know. Lets stop
standing around, lets go over
there.
Nia and Mariah go to the dance floor. Nia ends up dancing
with a boy. Next shots are of Mariah and Nia having fun at
the party.

INT. NIA'S DORM ROOM- MORNING

Nia wakes up to loud banging on her front door. She ran to
the door and opened it to see Derrick. He was enraged. They
went up into Nia's room where he shut the door and slapped
her. Nia is on the ground crying.
NIA
Derrick whats going on? What did I
do?!
Derrick throws his phone on her lap. It's a picture of Nia
dancing on a boy at the party.
NIA (CONT'D)
Wha-what. I don't even remember
this. Who sent this to you?
Derrick snatches his phone out of Nia's Hand.
DERRICK
Do I look like a joke to you?

NIA
Derrick i promise that is not what
it looks like. I had a few drinks
and danced on someone. So what?
DERRICK
So what?!
Derrick raises his arm to strike her face again but stops.
DERRICK (CONT'D)
You know what... I think I got you
good enough the first time. I'll
talk to you later when you have
enough sense to tell me what was
really going on in that picture.
Derrick storms out of the room. Nia peeks out of the window
to make sure Derrick is gone and runs to lock the doors. She
gets back to her room and breaks down crying.
FADE OUT

INT/EXT. CLASS ON CAMPUS- DAY

Nia gets a text from Derrick apologizing. She ignores the
text. Time goes by and during class Nia looks up and see's
Derrick staring into her classroom. He quickly disappears.
Nia feels very uneasy and terrified.
Nia walks from class to her dorm room checking her
surroundings the whole way. She walks into her house and
encounters her roommate Courtney in the kitchen.
COURTNEY
Hey... Are you okay?
NIA
I'm fine
COURTNEY
Ok...
Nia observes a book bag witting on the counter that belongs
to Courtney. She spots a piece ofpaper peeking out that
resembles the love spell paper.
NIA
Whats that?
COURTNEY
Whats what?

Nia rushes past Courtney and snatches the piece of paper out
of her bag.
NIA
What are you doing with this? Did
you go in my room?
Courtney stands there speechless and doe'snt say a word
NIA (CONT'D)
Mariah was so right about you. A
freaking weirdo.
COURTNEY
If anyone is weird it's her. Watch
your back. You'll realize soon
NIA
Girl PLEASE
Nia is fed up with everything and storms off into her room.

INT. NIA'S DORM ROOM- NIGHT

Nia is sitting on her bed and sends an email to the
basketball coach that she cant make it to work study this
week because she is sick.
Nia calls Mariah
MARIAH
Heyy best- woah. What happened to
you?
NIA
I don't even know where to start.
MARIAH
Whats going on?
NIA
Hmm well I'll start with how
Derrick hit me because he somehow
got sent a picture of me dancing on
that boy at that party. He's
stalking my classes. Then I walk
through the door and find out my
roommate stole the note from under
my pillow and was eavesdropping the
whole time that night. I don't even
know if she told anyone or took a
picture of it, I just don't know
what to do.

MARIAH
Slow down, breathe Nia. He hit
you?? I can't believe this, im so
sorry Nia...
NIA
I knew it was too good to be true.
I should of never done that stupid
spell. The love spell from hell is
what it is. I need to figure out
how to get reverse it.
MARIAH
Hey don't let this ruin the
feelings you have for him. Your
roommate is probably the one who
sent him that picture. I wouldn't
put it past her. Some people just
like to ruin peoples happiness when
they can't find their own
NIA
But why would she do that though? I
have never had a problem with the
girl. Ever.
MARIAH
Misery loves company. Like I said,
she is trying to ruin what you and
Derrick have. Get some rest, i'm
sure he didn't mean it. He loves
you
Nia was thrown off by what Mariah was saying. She makes an
excuse to get off the phone.
NIA
Uh... My mom's calling, i'll talk
to you later. Bye.
Nia hangs up the phone. She spends the rest of the night
researching how to get rid of the love spell.

INT. BUILDING ON CAMPUS- DAY

Nia is walking to the cafeteria when she see's Derrick and
Mariah having a brief conversation in the distance. She
immediately loses her appetite and walks back to her room.

INT. NIA'S DORM ROOM

Nia is in her room thinking and reads out loud that the only
way she can get rid of the spell is to take the same piece of
paper as she used and put it under someone else's pillow. She
also read that the stronger she left it under her pillow, the
stronger the spell would have been.
Next scene Nia is shown putting the note under a pillow that
is not hers.
FADE OUT

INT. NIA'S HOME- MORNING

Nia walks downstairs to head out for class when she see's her
roommate.
NIA
Hey!
COURTNEY
Hey?
NIA
So how'd you know?
COURTNEY
How'd I know what?
NIA
To take the love spell paper from
under my pillow otherwise the spell
would be stronger?
COURTNEY
Let's just say you aren't the first
one Mariah did this to.
NIA
I had a feeling... Her energy was
just so weird and off. She acted
completely clueless as if she never
met you before. What is her
reasoning behind doing this? I just
don't know what or who to believe
anymore.
COURTNEY
Jealousy. And sorry but I have to
know. Did you figure out how to get
rid of the spell? I could never
figure it out.

What do you mean? Are you still cursed?

COURTNEY (CONT'D)
Yes. It took me 2 years to finally
get ride of him. Hes in jail now
but I still have nightmares that
he's coming back to stalk me.
NIA
Well I figured it out. I'll be
fine.
COURTNEY
Huh, really?
NIA
Yeah. Lets just pray for Mariah
though.
Nia walks out the door smirking.

Last scene shows Derrick stalking Mariah on her way walking
to class.
