QUESTION ONE (20 MARKS)

a) A school wants to network their 15 standalone computers and add a file server. Highlight
any three possible benefits of doing this. (3 Marks)
b) You have been provided with the network address 132.21.0.0. Find the class, the block,
and the range of the addresses. (3 Marks)
c) As a network systems administrator, you want to troubleshoot on various switch interfaces
and below are the results of one of the interfaces that is displayed after using the show
interface command. Briefly interpret the output of below results; (2 Marks)

d) State and briefly explain two tools for finding errors in a network (2 Marks)
e) Large networks are built by applying routing between nodes. State and explain three ways
of doing this. (3 Marks)
List and explain two network tools that can be used for cable construction and testing
(2 Marks)
f) With the aid of a diagram, distinguish between circuit switching and packet switching. In
each case explain the strengths and weaknesses of each switching technique. (5 Marks)
