Uses of “ The ”

1. Nonu को Definite या Certain (नननित) बनाने के निए Definite Article The का प्रयोग होता है |

Basic Rules of „ The ‟

1. Superlative degree के पहिे नननित रूप से Definite Article का प्रयोग होता है |

Example :- He is the best student of this class.
Rani is the most beautiful girl in my village.
2. “The” का प्रयोग सागरों (sea), महासागरो (oceans), खाड़ी (gulf), के नाम के पहिे होता है |
Example :- The Pacific Ocean ( प्रशाांत महासागर )
The Indian Ocean( नहन्द महासागर )
The Red sea
The Mediterrarian sea
The Gulf of Mexico
The Gulf of St. Lawrence.
3. The” का प्रयोग धार्ममक ग्रांथो या बड़े ग्रांथो( Religious books) के नाम के पहिे होता है |
Example :- The Ramayan , The Ganga , The Bible, The Koran, etc.
4. The का प्रयोग हवाई जहाज (Aeroplanes), समुद्री जहाजो (Ships) , रेिगानड़यो (Trains) तथा समाचार – पत्रों
(News Papers) के नाम के पहिे भी The का प्रयोग होता है |
Example :- The Vikrant, The Punjab Mail, The Rajdhani Express, The of India etc.

5. ऐनतहानसक इमारतो (Historical buildings), स्थानो ( Places ), घटनाओं (Events) के नामो के पहिे The का
प्रयोग होता है |
Example :- The taj Mahal, The Red fort, The kurukshetra,The Battle of Panipat etc.
6. The का प्रयोग दुननया की अनूठी वस्तुओ आकाशीय पपडो (heavently bodies ), ददशाए (directions) या जो वस्तु
दुननया में के वि एक हो , तो उनके नाम के पहिे भी The का प्रयोग होता है |
Example :- The Moon, The Sun, The Sky,The South, The North,The World, The Universe, The
Earth, The Equator,The Air,
7. Musical Instruments ( वाद्य यांत्रो ) के पहिे भी The का प्रयोग दकया जाता है |
Example :- She Knows how to play The harmonium.
My elder daughter wants to play the dholak.
8. The का प्रयोग Government branches (सरकार की शाखाओ) Armed forces(सशस्त्र सेननको) के नाम के पहिे
होता है |
Example :- The Navi, The Airforce, The Army, The Judiciary, The Legislative,
9. Comparative Degree + of the two + Plural Countable Noun के expression में Comparative Degree के
पहिे The का प्रयोग होता है |
Example :- Raj is the more handsome of the two boys.
She is the better of the two girls.
10. The का प्रयोग धार्ममक सम्प्प्रदायों (Religious Community) के नाम के पहिे होता है |
Example :- The Hindu, The Muslims, The Jews, The Christians,The Persians.
11. पववत श्रेणी ( range of mountains) के नामो के पहिे The का प्रयोग होता है |
Example :- The Vindhyas, The Himalays, The Alps.
