Lesson Plan about Basic Shape (Grade 1)

I. Objectives:

By the end of the lesson, the pupils are expected to:

a) recognize and name the basic shapes;


b) identify a given shape through a "Passing" game; and
c) appreciate the importance of basic shapes in our daily lives.

II. Subject Matter:

A. Topic: Exploring the World of Basic Shapes


B. Reference: C-K Math First Grade Resources Flexlet.
C. Materials: Instructional material, Bond paper, Pentle pen, Customized shape, Picture of Shape,
and etc.
D. Subject Integration: Mathematics, English, and Literacy.
E. Values Integration : Obedience, cooperation and appreciation.

III. Procedures

A. Preparatory Activity
1. Prayer
2. Checking of Attendance
B. Lesson Proper
1. Motivation: Sing a Song

“Basic Shape”
"Square and circle (2x)
Triangle, triangle
Rectangle is my shape.
Let's meet them together
Basic shapes! (2x)"

2. Presentation:
Show different picture of Basic shape.
 What are the name of this shape?
 Based on this shape presented, call student to draw it in the air.
 What are the shape that has 4 sides?
 What are the shape that has 3 sides?
 What are the shape that has no sides?

3. Activity:
 The students will arrange their chairs by forming it into circle and they will
play "Passing the Object/Shape" while singing a song “Itsy Bitsy Spider”. If the
song is already stop, the last student that is holding the object/shape will
identify what the shape of what he/she is holding.

4. Generalization:
 The Basic shapes are circle, square, triangle and rectangle.
5. Evaluation
 The teacher will give a color and tracing shapes paper, and the student will
trace and color it, and on the side of the shape they will put the name of the
shape they trace regards to the lesson.
