SIMPLE TENSES:
Simple Present:
Fact: I work at Niner. Ervin works at

Routine: Every Saturday, my family

organizes the Olympics every 4 years.
Opinion: I agree with the statement.
I think global warming is a threat to
humanity.
General Explanation: For example, a
doctor in the Philippines earns less
than a doctor in the US.
Simple Past
Past event (time is indicated): Last
night, the President addressed the
entire country.
The Congress discussed last Monday
about their thoughts on providing
extra power and funds to the
President.
Simple Future:
Future event (time is indicated): Next
week, the LGU’s will extend their
curfew hours.
In the coming months, the economy
will definitely suffer from the
pandemic. I will go to the mall later.
PROGRESSIVE TENSE
Present Progressive
In progress/ At the moment: The
students are taking down notes. Our
health care practitioners are working
24/7. I am teaching.
Future event (near future): I will go
to the mall later. / I am going to the
mall later.
WILL – MODAL (FUTURE)
WILL BE GOING TO

Past Progressive:
In progress in the past/ certain point
in the past:
I was eating my dinner last night
when you called me on the phone.
Future Progressive:
Future event: I will go to the mall
later. I am going to the mall later. I
will be going to the mall later.

PERFECT TENSE
Present Perfect:
Past event (no time is indicated):
I have submitted my project to the
professor.
The President has announced some
important reminders regarding the
quarantine.
